Just spent two nights at The Blue Lion. As well as having two fabulous meals we also enjoyed several drinks in the bar area by the fire. It was always a pleasure returning from a days walk knowing we had somewhere nice to go back too. This pub really is cosy with a nice atmosphere and good food, we tried... More

The Blue Lion lived up to what our friends had described, a charming country Hotel with good food and log fires ideal for a Autumn stay. We were in room 1 which had a pretty rear view from large window. The room was spacious and pleasant, possibley not a charming as others and could have done with a larger television... More

Me and my boyfriend booked to stay at the Blue Lion for one night as we were visiting somewhere near by. We were welcomed by a very friendly member of staff and shown straight to our cottage and I was blown away! A huge modern bedroom with countryside furnishings and a marvelous king size bed. It also had lovely bath... More

The food and service will not disappoint, both really are excellent – you will definitely be well looked after. Prices are a little on the high side but you get what you pay for and I’m certainly not complaining. Also a good selection of class dishes. Make sure you book a table as some in the bar had long delays... More

Read about this place whilst staying in another 'Great Inns of Britain' so decided to book a two night break as a birthday treat for my husband. After I had booked, there appeared a few less favourable reviews on Trip Advisor so I was a little anxious before we came. I shouldn't have been! When booking, I had rung and... More

I've stayed here several times - usually in the same room. couldn't get it this time (just for 2 nights) - there was a shooting party in. But I had one of the little courtyard/cottage apartments which was every bit as good and nice and quiet away from the main building. Food is excellent at The Blue Lion and there... More

This is a great place , full of character and charm. The food is excellent and good value. And in gods own country. Open fires, a good pint and a fantastic menu . I'm sure there are others equally as good in the area but this one seems to have it for me . Locally sourced produce along side local... More

Its over 17years since we last stayed here, it was the day of Princess Diana's funeral, relevant as HRH wales uses the Blue Lion occasionally when Grouse shooting locally. Anyhow, now that I have finished laughing at 'Yorkshireman 1234's review, clearly someone who does not understand good kitchen, he seems to have no idea of how Grouse should be and... More

I had heard great things about the food at the blue lion inn for years but always palmed it off for another restaurant that i know i love. I decided to take me fiancé out to the blue lion instead of my usual the crab and lobster in asenby as they were fully booked for a wedding. On arrival the... More
