In the beautifully quaint village of East Witton. We called in when passing, amazing authentic old bar with flag floors, open fireplace, round backed settles. An amazing place. The menu looked extremely inviting but it was too early to have dinner, we had Rioja served in beautiful, big balloon glasses. I had a nosey round and just loved all the... More

We have stayed at the Blue Lion on several occasions over the past ten years. East Witton is a small and charming village in Yorkshire and is surrounded by some of England's more picturesque villages and countryside. The hotel presents as a traditional English Pub but the rooms have been made over and are modern and comfortable. Our room was... More

Had a lovely overnight stay at the Blue Lion room in main part of the hotel was spacious and very comfortable en-suite bathroom was nicely appointed although the bath was a bit on the small side (I am 5'2") after a day's walking I like a soak!! Bar is very rustic but with a warm welcoming atmosphere and serves great... More

Excellent, hot meal served by friendly staff. Only disappointment was the dessert. Two of us ordered a selection of home made ice cream but we were dismayed when we were presented with the tiniest scoop you have ever seen. We all fell about laughing. When we raised the issue with the staff he also laughed and blamed the Spanish waitress..... More

We stayed at the Blue Lion in the converted stables separate to the main building. The room was lovely and nicely decorated with beams and character but with a modern, very clean feel. There was under floor heating in the en suite bathroom which was large and extremely clean and modern. The accommodation was very quiet the only negative for... More

Was recommended to this place and decided we'd go for a nice Sunday Lunch. Must admit that we were a tiny bit surprised that a restaurant promoting itself for fine dining, only had a limited Sunday menu on offer. Chose the scallop and the whitebait starters and the haddock and the pork loin mains followed by coffees. Service was very... More

We came for a family birthday celebration weekend, with seven of us staying in 3 rooms. The place is great - I love the big range fireplace, the flagged floors in the bar, and the excellent beer (Black Sheep and Theakstons). We reserved a table in the bar, service excellent, and the food was very good. The scallops starter was... More

Booked into one of larger courtyard rooms which was well appointed but shower with no door means bathroom becomes a wet room! Wifi not available in room. Food was very good but let down by being served with tiny amounts of rather uninspiring vegetables. Service although reasonably efficient was not particularly friendly and some staff certainly need better training. Having... More

What a fantastic place, warm friendly service, great character period hotel, with great ale and fantastic food. I could recommend this hotel enough to both the business client and holiday maker. Set in beautiful North Yorkshire, it couldn't get any better.

The pub is warm and inviting with friendly helpful staff. The menu is tempting and all the meals that I saw looked great. We had suet pudding and mash which was £18 and a fish pie which was £17. Both were hot and tasty but the suet pudding is worthy of higher praise. The pub has rooms and some are... More
