We haven't been to the Blue Lion in over ten years and it is still wonderful. Warm, welcoming and delicious food. We went with our children for dinner, the dinning room is classic, like we are at home but so much better because I have not had to cook! We will be going again, perhaps every few months for that... We returned to The Blue Lion for the first time for a few years to find that it is even better than before. We had a room in the house rather than the annexe - maybe not as big but probably more comfortable and on a wet night no need to take precautions against the elements. We ate in the... More

We booked a two night stay and invited friends along. When we arrived we were shown to our room in the courtyard which was of a good size, had soft white towels and nice toiletries. However, the door had to be locked to stay closed and the paint was peeling in the bathroom. There were cobwebs and spiders in the... More

The accommodation was a lovely courtyard room, very comfortable. The food however was very expensive for what it was. It was very over rated . We found the dining room very cramped, dark and the staff not very friendly. Over all not a wonderful experience and jolly well expensive for what it was. Would not visit again.

This was a revisit. Previously stayed here around 10 years ago. Bedrooms recently refurbished and new bathrooms fitted. Bedrooms in rear courtyard are very nice but need to be careful in the main building as some are cramped and others lack daylight. Our room was no 7 which was a nice large room but very dark as there were only... More

We stayed here as a special deal three nights for the price of two. Condition was, we had to have a main meal two of the three nights in their restaurant. This place is everything a good pub should be. Staff can't do enough for you and are very warm and welcoming. The one drawback we found was, we didn't... More

We stayed here for one night with friends, but would have loved to have stayed longer to explore the beautiful countryside. The Blue Lion is a high class but friendly inn. Lots of history within the building and surrounding area which is detailed in the room guide. We had dinner in the hotel which was excellent - lots of local... More

We have visited The Blue Lion many times over a 20 year period, both for overnight stays and just for lunch, as a family with young children and as a couple. We have never been disappointed. The rooms are light and comfortable and the food is mouth-wateringly delicious. As for the staff, they are professional, courteous and go the extra... More

Ate here while staying in West Witton. The food quality was very good and there was a good choice of both vegetarian and non vegetarian meals - all written up on chalk boards around the top of the room. The service was good. I was impressed to be offered bread in a pub! maybe I got the wrong impression of... More
