I do not normally write reviews but in this case I make an exception. My wife and I are frequent visitors to The Blue Lion and having been for dinner twice in the last month, the quality of the food and service was exceptional and the attention to detail, spot on. All the staff were efficient, polite and friendly and... More

We had two nights for our anniversary both evening meals were excellent the staff were very nice and helpful. There were a couple of thing we couldn't get wifi in the room at any time even though the hotel states you can and the room was very dark we had to go into the bar to read the papers. One... More

We have just spent a couple of days with a party of 14 walkers and had, overall, a very enjoyable experience. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of hot water for baths after a heavy going hike! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening meals and there was a good choice of wines. The staff were friendly and efficient and any hiccups were... More

We stopped here for lunch, and it was a bit up and down to be honest. Some staff were friendly, others overly formal. They didn't get our order right. The food was nice enough, but not overly special (there were big lumps of fat in the roast beef sandwich), and we were served really small portions especially for the very... More

Stayed here many times, always in one of the 'outside' rooms. Pick No. 9 if you want to avoid noise from the road and late night revellers. The food is fantastic with an excellent chef who maintains a wide and imaginative menu, and a there's a very good wine list. I suppose you could call this a gastro pub. If... More

Had been advised that this was a decent place to eat. Booked Sunday lunch and we were quite late, but staff were very accommodating..we had advised them that we had been delayed. Ate in the bar, which was very dark and rather too warm as a log fire had been lit..this was June. Food served was typical of a decent... More

The warm friendly greeting, polite efficient service and the spacious clean, fresh decor of the courtyard room with wonderful toiletries available in the ensuite bathroom; all proved to be excellent indications that this was a great find for a short walking break near Leyburn. The cooked breakfast was beautifully cooked to order- all local foods. The evening meal surpassed all... More

Lovely stay this weekend, excellent food and comfortable room. The courtyard room is beautiful and the shower is so powerful. I just wanted to move in! The breakfast was perfect too. The staff were very experienced and helpful. Please check the seat covers in the dining room though, they're very thin and the seats were very hard!

Managed to get the last room in the hotel,a treat for the bank holiday weekend. Lovely room though a bit chill on arrival. Soon warmed up when the radiator was switched on. (it was pouring down and cool... ) there were some very creaky floorboards in our room and next doors room which we heard quite a lot. Nice welcome... More

We had a wonderful time at this18th Century Coaching Inn. We stayed for 3 nights. We were made very welcome by all the staff and the standard of service was high.We had a courtyard room - built since we last visited - which was light and airy with a patio door to the garden, walk in shower and very comfortable...
