Wonderful friendly staff and a menu that changes each week keeps it interesting and something to look forward to for a regular visitor like myself. The Chefs mixed salad is quite exceptional and must be tried as it compliments most dishes on the menu and is an easy quality alternative for the more well known salads ....eg Waldorf Salad ..!!... Stayed for 2 nights .The room was dated and needs a total refurbishment. The bathroom was also grubby. The bed was comfortable and I slept well . Breakfast could be better only continental Mondays and the full English wasn't huge. Its not luxury by any means but it wasn't terrible

The first room I was put in was a smoking room, it was a hole (beware smokers), tiny, smelly, and shabby. Being a non smoker I went back to reception and requested a non smoking room (as on my original booking). The reception staff begrudgingly looked into me moving rooms, and was not very helpful or friendly. My next room... More

My parents stayed in 'The Angel' for one night, and had SUCH a lovely warm welcome. Their room was beautifully-clean and absolutely enormous (one of the refurbed ones) - they joked about 'WOW. Just stick a small kitchen in, and we'll move in.' The staff were impeccable - very friendly, discreetly helpful and genuinely attentive. The hotel was relatively busy... More

Our room as a little tired but the hotel is quite obviously under going a big refurbishment. The staff were very very friendly and the breakfast was superb. Our one night stay was quiet (our room was at the back of the hotel) and pleasant.

A weekend Birthday event that was made even better by the attentative staff. We had several bedrooms plus the function room for a Saturday night. Yes it was as we expected being a very old Coaching Inn. The rooms and furniture being a little tired looking but never the less, very clean and comfortable. Indeed our room was so large... More

The Angel is a lovely property on the high street and clearly has an extensive history, Sadly, all that is lost or forgotten in the way the place is being operated. When we arrived we were not welcomed or greeted - we were "challenged" by some haughty, clipped, woman who made it quite clear we were interrupting her "challenging" schedule.... More

Hotel is of the traditional "Coaching Inn" type and is probably not much altered in the last 200 years. All the mod-cons are shoehorned in ! Room was well appointed - no problems there. Even earplugs are available for the non-existant traffic noise! Catering was "OK" , service good.
