This was our second visit to this hotel and we absolutely love it here. The rooms have got a really nice feel as do the building and gardens in general. The position of the hotel is in a really quiet little village and if you are looking to relax this place is completely recommended. The staff are all really friendly... More

We met some friends for lunch at the Wheatsheaf Inn which was recommended. We sat at a table in the garden area outside of the main bar. The special menu for the day was very not very appealing so we ate a la carte. The pricing of the menu is high for the food on offer and whilst the meal... More

The wheatsheaf is very much a coaching inn. You check in at the bar, its more a pub with rooms than a hotel. On arrival walking from the pub car park through the garden, the music was blasting out and was not the beautiful serene place it had looked on the photo. However, the room was lovely , very contemporary... More

My husband and I have stayed here a couple of times, and we love it. Some of the rooms are very small, so have a look at the floorplan before you book. The décor is chic and stylish, and the rooms are immaculately clean. The restaurant is also very good, but all the food seems to be served on scaldingly... More

On an impulse, we decided to stay in Northleach, having spent the afternoon in the Cotwolds and saw this hotel just off the main square. We were offered room 9, one facing the road and another leading onto the garden - number 9 it was, upstairs, facing the pretty garden. The hotel was packed on a warm summer evening and... More

My wife hates surprises, but I took the risk and whisked her away for her birthday to the Wheatsheaf. The reception was somewhat quaint but efficient, but the room, though not the largest was great, with a large en suite bathroom with a rainforest shower and huge pedestal bath. There was no shelf though in the bathroom, and that was... More

Lovely quaint inn which we stayed in for one night. staff, helpful and very friendly. The room was small but beautifully decorated. The shower water a bit iffy in that it fluctuated between full on and a dribble. Had dinner in the garden which was lovely and again the staff so friendly and helpful. Had a ghostly experience overnight .... More

We had never heard of Northleach until we hired a cottage for the weekend. What a find only 2min from our accommodation and the best steak we have had for a while. The staff were very friendly especially our waitress Briony where nothing was too much trouble. We cant wait to return in the winter and chill out in the... More

I travelled here with my partner, we were going to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. The reception on arrival was friendly and the staff couldn't do enough for us, we were shown to our room, which was a double deluxe, it was spotlessly clean, with a huge bed, which was good as it was a very warm... We have just arrived back after an overnight stay at The Wheatsheaf. We don't see my sister and her husband as much as we would like so wanted somewhere really nice for an overnight stay. what a lovely place! As soon as we arrived we were greated by Lionel and shown to our rooms. they were gorgeous! I went for... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In years gone by the Wheatsheaf Inn hosted large parties in the hall above the stables below where the teams of horses and coaches would be kept and above blindingly drunken parties would be held where coachmen, travellers and mysterious highwaymen would drink (the water wasn’t much good so it was mostly yards of ale), dance, tell tales, sing and generally be very badly behaved. The hall is now bedrooms but in the private dining room we still hold feasts where you can do the same thing. Whole suckling pigs or large joints of beef will be carried in, copious amounts of wine will be drunk and they you can just crawl upstairs to one of our 14 beautiful bedrooms. A feast may be a bit too much food on a normal night so you can also opt for simple bar snacks from £5 for something delicious on toast. All the food comes from our amazing suppliers, some is organic, some is not but mostly it is local and seasonal and is cooked by Anthony, Tim and the Wheatsheaf’s talented team of chefs. We are child and dog friendly and have a great garden. The inn in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds in the historic market town of Northleach. It is within easy reach of Cirencester, Cheltenham and Oxford and about 1 1/2 hours drive from London. ... more   less
