Lovely pub-hotel. Excellent, efficient and friendly service, good food and drinks. One potentially major blip handled very smoothly by junior staff. Breakfast is a highlight- extensive, interesting menu. Our room was very good, lovely big bath, excellent interior design to provide both privacy and light in a difficult space. Our dog was also well catered for with her own bed,... More

My husband and I chose the Wheatsheaf to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and had such a wonderful weekend, we can't recommend it enough We stayed 2 nights and didn't end up leaving the hotel! Our room was a 'very good' size, had a free-standing bath, lovely toiletries, the bed was so comfy and big and there were many finishing... More

We went here for a weekend out of London with high expectations given the reviews, demand for rooms and the price (!)...luckily it did not disappoint. From the moment we got there the service was excellent; friendly and helpful (not snobby as we feared). The building is fantastic, with great character and very well maintained. The interior design is really... More

The Inn is set in a nice quintessential Cotwolds village setting. We arrived at 5pm and just about squeezed into the car park. There was no check in as such, just a busy bar with locals looking at us with our luggage but we were quickly seen to. The character, beauty and charm of the building was just what we'd... More

We travelled to the wheatsheaf for my birthday and stayed in room 2 with our 17 week old baby boy. The room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. As beautiful as the free standing bath was, should have asked for a room with a shower. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious but service was slow considering 10% service... More

We enjoyed a super family supper in the poker room. Lovely food and good service. Only complaint is that we had to wait over an hour for our table and so it all got quite late. Beware of this if booking a second sitting on a busy night. Fun place though.

We went for lunch only: It was a beautiful building and a lovely atmosphere. The food was pretty average and very overpriced. Four adults, two small children, a non-alcoholic lunch and no dessert cost £180!!

I stayed as part of a wedding party with my husband and baby. I had been assured by the bride that we would be able to check in from 11am on the day. I rang the hotel the day before our stay and spoke to a polite man who said that this had not been recorded against our room. We... More

My wife and I have just spent a wonderful night at the Wheatsheaf Inn. From the moment we walked into the bar we where made to feel very welcome by the staff on duty in particular Ryan who really did his best to settle us in following a rather stressful journey. We had an excellent light lunch with drinks and... More

Fantastic luxurious one night get away. Fabulous service, great rooms and amazing food! We will definitely return for another romantic evening. Left with a goody bag for our onward journey - lovely touch.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
In years gone by the Wheatsheaf Inn hosted large parties in the hall above the stables below where the teams of horses and coaches would be kept and above blindingly drunken parties would be held where coachmen, travellers and mysterious highwaymen would drink (the water wasn’t much good so it was mostly yards of ale), dance, tell tales, sing and generally be very badly behaved. The hall is now bedrooms but in the private dining room we still hold feasts where you can do the same thing. Whole suckling pigs or large joints of beef will be carried in, copious amounts of wine will be drunk and they you can just crawl upstairs to one of our 14 beautiful bedrooms. A feast may be a bit too much food on a normal night so you can also opt for simple bar snacks from £5 for something delicious on toast. All the food comes from our amazing suppliers, some is organic, some is not but mostly it is local and seasonal and is cooked by Anthony, Tim and the Wheatsheaf’s talented team of chefs. We are child and dog friendly and have a great garden. The inn in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds in the historic market town of Northleach. It is within easy reach of Cirencester, Cheltenham and Oxford and about 1 1/2 hours drive from London. ... more   less
