Having previously stayed at the wonderful No.131 and No.38, located in the heart of Cheltenham, this time we were sampling the delights of Northleach’s Wheatsheaf Inn. Set in a quaint little country village, it’s worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just what we needed after a long week. As soon as you enter, you’re met... More

We have just returned from my husband's 50th birthday celebrations at the Wheatsheaf inn. We booked all but 3 of the hotel rooms overnight and arranged to have a "feast" banquet in the private dining room. Having never stayed at or eaten at the hotel before, we were a little nervous about the event, but we needn't have worried. Everything... More

Overall we found the food to be a good standard typical of many Cotswold Inns, however the limited menu (especially for desserts) and overpricing is reflected in the score. £20 for cod loin with puy lentils and roasted vegetables was worth at most £14. Similarly saw other customers eating the £18 fish and chips and have seen better for significantly... More

After lots of research on relaxing country getaways close to London I settled on booking 2 nights at the Wheatsheaf for my wife's birthday. My main priorities were good food, a large comfortable room and a nice communal area where we could while away a few hours with a glass of wine and our books. The reviews suggested this place... We really enjoyed staying here while we visited the Cotswolds and surrounding area. The setting is straight out of a movie. The restaurant is cozy and warm and the food was very good. It is clear that attention was paid to making the Inn both comfortable and inviting. We liked the layout of the room and the overall interior design... More

We've had a few disappointing weeks for eating out in Cheltenham. In search of a good steak. But that needed here! A relaxing ambience. Juicy, grilled sirloin steak. Smooth, creamy and silky peppercorn sauce. With a smooth cabernet sauvignon. A warm, friendly and professional service from our waitress, Alex. A brilliant experience all in all. We"ll be back!

My partner surprised me with a weekend away to the Cotswolds with a stay at The Wheatsheaf and it was absolutely perfect! On arrival to the pub we were greeted by a warming fire place and a bustling bar, just what we needed after the journey from London, we were shown to our room which overlooked the church and offered... located in pretty Cotswolds village, this small hotel/coaching in is perfect for a short getaway. The room we booked was fantastic with a huge zinc bath which my partner loved. The bar downstairs was well run with an nice open fire and the 'snug Dinner at the restaurant was also pretty good. The liver I had was good to perfection.... More

The eclectic menu produced interesting and well prepared dishes. The side dishes of vegetables were particularly special. The restaurant was noisy and very "pubby" and the service friendly rather than professional. A couple of suggestions: firstly make it easy for customers to leave their coats somewhere before entering the restaurant - we managed to get someone to take our coats,... More

Stayed here before Christmas as we were horse riding in the area. Staff were pleasant enough but no way as welcoming as the Village Pub in Barnsley... This is much more of a gastro pub which happens to have rooms... and the room we had was the biggest negative. Do not go for room 5, where we stayed. The room... More
