Really was not looking forward to my stay in the Cliff. I had read some of the reviews (when the sun wasn't shining) and knew it was run down. It is. Don't come here for a romantic weekend or you will be very disappointed but if you take advantage of the last minute deals you can pick up a very... More

Anyway wasn't here for a holiday but I chose a 'sea view room' with Juliet balcony (no extra expense), having read one or two previous reviews I wasn't overly expectant, I'm old enough to make my own mind up though :D rang the bell at reception but then had to go looking for someone so I could book in, nice... Great views and just over the road from the sea so you can hear the waves at night, which is always soothing. A lovely walk into Harwich old town - around some very attractive little beaches, each created by wooden groynes. Watching the ferries and container ships set off from port and then the flotillas of yachts and dinghies was... More

The Cliff Hotel is old and needs renovation. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are great facing the sea. Once it is restored it will cost you twice as much to stay here. Lovely views, high ceiling, it must have been beautiful years ago! There is no internet in the room.

Arrived Friday afternoon, check in was ok. Receptionist very friendly. Had to climb two flights of stairs with luggage to get to our room on first floor. Sea View as booked was nice. However the carpet in room 9 was filthy. The bed base was also badly stained. linen was good. Hand held Shower, no curtain. It was in bath... More

I recommend this hotel. Nice place to stay, sea view from the windows. Fat walls so you can have loud sex even at night, there is a noise when you step on the floor close to the wall in living room in room 1 so someone from room 11 can hear every step you make in the living room. There... More

I have already praised this hotel, but as the visit I am commenting on will probably be my last (as I have moved home), I simply want to say that after 14 years regular use , one could not find much better food, beer and the staff are simply superb. These aspects have been consistent for 14 years. I have... More

On the 21st Dec myself & a large group of friends attended one of the cliff hotels party nights. This includes disco, chicken & chips and party hats & poppers. Food finally came out at 10pm, the food came on plastic plates, a very small handful of very greasy chips, a plain chicken breast cooked to within an inch of... More

We chose the Cliff for a lunch-time reception after my mum's funeral and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, excellent service and accomodating management. We chose the afternoon tea menu which came with well filled sandwiches with real fillings - not plastic imitations. The scones and sausage rolls really were home-made and everybody commented on the... More
