We stayed at The Pier for one night before we joined a cruise ship sailing from Harwich. We arrived at the hotel in mid-afternoon and found that our room was on the second floor. There is no lift and there was no-one available at the time to help with our bags, although we were told that someone would be available... More

Been to Harwich several times, but either stayed elsewhere or driven late night/early morning to catch the ferries. Now that the Harwich-Esbjerg route has stopped, it’s just the Hoek Van Holland clientele who will probably be needing to stay here on a regular basis (if catching the early morning sailings from Harwich). Anyway: The Pier is good value, and in... More

Myself and a few friends came to harwich for the first time last night (Saturday 18th October) and thought we'd try out The Pier we decided to have our meal downstairs in the bistro, and the meal was fantastic, our steak was cooked perfectly and the service was brilliant, the views were stunning and the staff were very helpful and... On the weekend we arrived they had a Sea Shanty festival in the town . All the little pubs and restaurants in... More

We stayed here on our way to and from Holland on the ferry. Lovely hotel, accepted our pet dog who was also allowed to stay in the restaurant with us :^), which served great food. Nice room although rather warm, had all necessary amenities. Private car park at back, so no problems parking. Lovely helpful staff. Would recommend.

We have just returned from a wonderful night at the Pier. Our room (The Mayflower suite) was immaculately presented, very well equipped and with free Wifi with a good signal, large comfy chairs to sit at and soak in the view, a huge bathroom with separate bath and shower. The extra touches of Ren products, free soft drinks in the... More

Booked a one night deal with dinner and breakfast and paid extra to upgrade the room. When we arrived we were shown to what can only be described as an annex next door, a shabby building needing a lick of paint. The room was small with a grubby bathroom, stained tiles, icky sealant round bath etc. After taking off the... More

Stayed at The Pier one night before our cruise. Great location overlooking the bay and river. Nice pier across the street with a small cafe. Alma Inn is 5 minutes away and not to be missed. We were in room 3 which was a very good room. It was a corner room facing the bay. In the morning were could see... More

What a beautiful hotel. Situated on the front at Harwich overlooking the river. We had a beautiful room with mini bar soft drinks. A lovely king size bed. We booked a meal in the upstairs restuarant. Service was excellent. Food were superb. Breakfast was lovely too once we got it. There was not a lot of organisation at breakfast. We... More

Good location and historically interesting hotel. Pleasant and attentive staff, good rooms, clean , tidy and well presented. But a dissapointmemt when they struggle to get breakfast right, regardless of the choice. Surely they should guess when plates return half eaten. The fine dining is also far from its title. The service was superb but the offerings bland , overcooked... More
