My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience of both dining and drinking at The Pier Hotel. The service is superb with friendly staff who are extremely polite and attentive. The food is delicious with good sized portions. I highly recommend the pan fried hake with wild garlic mash and clam veloute - I had this twice and thought it... More

Everything you want from a hotel, it stayed for a few nights on business but I'd happily go back in my own time and pay my own money for a stay here. The rooms in the main house are a little more cramped than the newer annex, but that's what you get from a traditional property. The rooms are well... More

For those familiar with the Milsom Hotels and the “Talbooth” in Dedham, nr Colchester, you might like to experience The Pier in Harwich. If you drive down to the Quay you will pass the container and ferry terminal and wonder what your letting yourself in for, fear not, you will not be disappointed. The Restaurant and Hotel are in different... More

We are regular visitors and always made to feel welcome even if its only for a bite to eat. Service and food quality is always great, nice changes in menu keep the choices interesting, but if we are honest the fish and chips are to die for.

Had lovely fish and chips here - a little pricey but worth it . The wine is overpriced for the quality tho . The little Scottish lady who waits on tables is a little gem. Don't settle for eating in the bar area tho it's too noisy and crowded with people standing at your elbow while you try to eat... More

Beautiful hotel with interesting views. We booked a room in the main hotel overlooking the harbour. The room is decorated to a very high standard and very tasteful. Staff couldn't do enough for you and the whole place has a very slick, professional vibe. Breakfast was good and we much appreciated the veggie sausage (a lot of hotels don't bother... More

We stayed one night on a dinner bed and breakfast package. Our room was in the annex, although it was very small it was very comfortable, it didn't matter anyway because we had unlimited access to a splendid lounge downstairs. The location of the hotel is in the old part of the town which is charming. Food at dinner was... More

This is a lovely hotel, the service is excellent and rooms were very well appointed and comfortable. Our room had a fabulous view over the pier towards Felixstowe which may not sound too romantic but it was very pleasant! The restaurant in the hotel is good, perhaps a tad overpriced but the fish was fresh with a good choice of... More

Perhaps it shouldn't have been as the website gives a really good impression of the Pier. A large room with sitting area and large bathroom together with a huge bed made for a very comfortable stay. The staff were brilliant nothing too much trouble. Two gripes - we were in the "annex" next door and whilst this, as I have... More

We thank you for your feedback, however we do not respond to individual comments. The Pier Hotel is located in two historic buildings that stand proudly on the quay side of old Harwich. The hotel's main building, built in the 1850's, houses two celebrated seafood restaurants - The Ha' Penny on the ground floor and the Harbourside on the first floor - and seven second-floor bedrooms, most of which overlook the estuary. The year 2000 saw the acquisition of the next door building, formerly the Angel public house, which dates back to the 1700's and is now fully refurbished and converted into a further seven bedrooms. All 14 bedrooms are carefully furnished with many individual touches and all have private bathrooms, satellite TV, minibars, telephone and welcome tea and coffee tray. In addition, the family-friendly feel of the hotel continues into the bedrooms with several of them offering sofa beds for accompanying children. ... more   less
