Fish and chips for two of us on a blustery day! Well cooked with crispy batter. Service was prompt and efficient. We didn't have desert, just two coffees which were nice and strong. I would return if in Harwich again.

Family funeral prompted this stay but as always everything from the bathroom toiletries to the in room tea provisions are fab..gorgeous breakfast to finish. The location is very calming so perfect for this occasion but has also been wonderful previously too.

Myself and 3 friends went to the Pier on the 1st January as it will be the last time we can go there for a while as it is being refurbished. The staff are truly fantastic there (special mentions must go to Caroline and Carly) and performed brilliantly again in very difficult circumstances as they are all being let go... More

We stayed for two nights and everyone was so friendly and efficient. The room was cosy and great that we could take our small dog not only in the room but also for meals. Despite the knowledge of all the staff being made redundant as the hotel is being refurbished they were all upbeat and helpful. Come on Milsom's please... More

Lovely situation close to the sea. Not keen on having to write out own order and taking it to staff ... First waitress not very helpful and didn't even offer to take drinks order. 2nd waitress much better and very helpful and cheerful. Lovely food, not rushed. Have been here many times and the only real downside is lack of... More

We have just spent our 6th Christmas at The Pier, but with some sadness because we were aware, unlike many of the other guests, of the changes taking place from the 3rd January 2016. Once again The Pier’s staff all worked hard, from housekeeping to the general manager, to ensure that everyone had an enjoyable time. As usual when staying... More

We go out with our friends 3 or 4 times a year, we've been to Milsoms in Dedham so we thought we'd try The Pier in Harwich, also owned by Milsoms. Based on the water front, views are not spectacular but the hotel has a lot of character with the sea theme throughout. Staff we're friendly and informative, we ate... More

I came here for a meal only, the service was great, very friendly. The space is good and comfortable and the food was excellent. The Guinness is good for this part of the world too. I was very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience and will certainly come back.

This place had everything. Great ambience, great views of the ships entering the Port! Great food, all locally sourced and well presented! Great service, clean rooms with comfortable beds, helpful staff and short walk to the Main Street shops or taxi to ship terminal or train to London! Home away from home!

As soon as you are greeted on arrival you feel at home. Lunch excellent as always with the freshest extra large portion of Plaice that you could wish for. But where the diners, certainly very unusually quiet for a Tuesday. Front of house Anthony probably wished he was on the golf course.
