When we checked in they couldnt find our booking (made and confirmed with Booking .com) Eventually we got to a room but not before finding it very difficult to checkin and pay The hotel has American Express signs everywhere Even little American Express signs in the bedroom BUT on presenting my card I am promptly told 'We dont take American... I had a delicate job to do And was in no way wrong nor rude, In this early interface adieu. I was in fact in a very good mood As the problem had not escaped me. Gordon Hoyles. More

Stayed here after booking.com let me down over my original registration elsewhere. Yes, reception is a little small and off-putting but the rooms are very clean; quirkily and originally decorated; bathrooms are very elegant (although the water pressure leaves a little to be desired) and the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. From the hotel it's an easy walk into... More

It's hard to categorise this hotel. There were times when I thought it was a dream. Reception is a cubby hole stacked with old boxes and trailing wires. Entrance is through a murky little bar with sticky carpets. The room had a wonderful seaview and some very quirky decor: half timbered features stuck on to crumbling plaster. The bathroom had... This is one of those quirky hotels that is hard to rate. The owners are clearly passionate about their rooms and have gone to great trouble to assign and decorate a theme to each room which I thought was unusual and good. We had a beach cabin theme with a wooden beach cabin within the room as the bathroom and... More

We booked via a 3rd party website and we were offered 3 rooms instead of 4 when we arrived. Eventually, they provided 4 rooms, and after looking in one, we left and found another hotel. We knew it wasn't going to be a four seasons, but it smelt like an old Ford Capri that someone had died in and the... More

I can't understand this. Every morning I do the rounds. Remove all the cadavers and put them straight in the dustbin. Some of them are still warm. I certainly catch them before they start smelling. Gordon Hoyles, Poet. Owner/manager. More

Reading some of the other reviews, I think that either I travel so much I expect something acceptable or I am not in the real world. I turned up and compared the picture of the hotel to the actual hotel (I actually drove past it 3 times), this is not the hotel I booked is it? I went to check... More

I am quite happy with the Hotel as it is. It is not new. It is well used and the irritation of minor maintenance work is continuous. The Hotel has an all-important warm, friendly ambiance which entrances most guests. Gordon Hoyles, Owner/manager. More

I booked this hotel as a last minute thing for my elderly dad and his travelling companion. From the very first phone call to them, they went out of their way to help and try to put some of my own anxieties at rest. Unfortunately, due to an accident in the hotel (which was in NO WAY the owners fault),... More

Promised good vegan food however when we arrived the state of the building was in disrepair and very poor. The bar area (where you order the food) was makeshift and looked dirty. We asked for the vegan options but unfortunately you have to ring in advance in order to get the vegan options. The chef did say he would see... More

Had a lovely work meal here at Christmas and decided to give the Sunday lunch a try with the in laws. Food was superb couldn't fault it. Reasonably priced 2 & 3 course menu. Staff were friendly and helpful despite being new to the job. Only downside was the leaking conservatory roof. Would definitely go again 😀

Positive first... Good location, well equipped room, comfy bed, cheap bar, pleasant helpful staff!..negative,shabby and grim on first impression, very overpriced at £75 a night, having stayed in many b&bs.. Poor value for money..better out there for less money.(bonus old pair of smelly socks found in drawer from way back)...lol
