Thanks again to all at the Continental for a great stay in December and warm welcome again. As always, the daily menu was a treat through the week - and I had to ask for smaller portions to avoid getting huge - or more to keep room for desserts to die for! Lovely comfy bed in room 12 (and such... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Hotel Continental in December 2014 and had an incredible time! We arrived and were shown to our room by the owner, Blossom, a woman who seemed determined to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction - no request was too much trouble. We stayed in room 5; the view was wonderful! The... More

This hotel has a very personal and original approach. They have a great eye for detail, as seen in the art collection, but also in the beautiful rooms and the excellent food, organic and from nearby farms. excellent vegetarian food, too. If you are looking for a run-of -the-mill, predictable and boring place, don't go. If you like a unique... More

We absolutely loved this hotel. It sits right on the English Channel with a full view of the water. We were given an apartment with a full modern kitchen. The bedroom was Victorian in the extreme and the rest of the apartment was very charming. My pictures show the bedroom, kitchen, lighting in the kitchen and a harbor view. The... More

If you're looking for a modern, ship shape establishment with all mod cons and immaculately dressed staff then this isn't the place for you. However, if you're after somewhere that's clean, comfortable and with a lot of character then it will fit the bill. I booked by phone a few days earlier and the lady owner was helpful and efficient.... More

The owners of this hotel are most rude people Ive ever had misfortune to meet. The Hotel is outdated decor needs updated, breakfast no better than eating at fastfood outlet. Time these owners gave up the business.

I am so pleased I didn't read the negative comments prior to booking this hotel. Myself, my partner and parents in law booked 2 double rooms at short notice. We were welcomed by Michael, who was very friendly. He showed us to our rooms and demonstrated the door code for entry. He explained about dinner in the restaurant and breakfast... More

Hi all. I arrived at "Faulty Towers "AKA Hotel Continental after a very stressful five hour drive from Birmingham, I rang the bell at reception on arrival, waited a few minutes but no response!, I rang the bell a second time!, at last a response, A middle aged lady popped her head round and told me very curtly...! We're very... More

A surprisingly poor hotel. No record of telephone booking. The hotel appeared almost empty. No lift exists. Access to rooms is via the bar with loud TV and a few dossers. Our room was a mish mash of junk with bare breeze block on the wall. The sea view was ok. Were going to dine there but put off by... More

This review is not unexpected. We made a mistakeand lost the initial booking and were shouted at so all the bar would hear about it. Thankfully an awful lot of people like, love and appreciate what we do and have a far less rigid approach. And it's poor if you can't make your own mind up about trying the food, which... More

The hotel is quirky and fun. We had to take two single beds as it was the only room left. The staff was extremely friendly. We had a nice dinner in the hotel. We stayed here before a cruise out of Harwich and we would return again.
