I have stayed her twice. Each time for over 2 weeks. Graham and his staff go far and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Friendly and warm for sure. I would highly recommend to anyone.

I stayed here for a few nights recently whilst working in the local area. The nearest big-name was too far away and the Samuel Pepys was recommended by the client. The place itself is a very nice little pub/inn style of place, bigger than a b&b but not really a hotel. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful without... More

Our family have been coming here for years and always had a delicious meal and it's always pleseant to sit in this cosy pub. I don't know if there has been a change of management or somthing but the last 3 times (in 3 months) my food has been rubbish. Particularly a recent Sunday...The Sunday rush I presume had resulted... I stayed for 2 nights prior to my cruise at the beginning of this month. I had a single room overlooking the street. I had a warm welcome and was shown my room rather than just being given my key and was helped with getting my case up the stairs, which I really appreciated. The room was clean, bright and... More

We used this pub for a lunch meal, we took the fish and chips as they claimed they were good. We have had a lot better fish and chips in many places. Maybe they stick to the normal pub food. We will not try there again.

The hotel is located in a quiet street close to the seafront in a seventeenth century building possibly dating from the time when Samuel Pepys was MP for Harwich. My room on the top floor was clean, modern and functional. All amenities were in working order. Shampoo sachets and soap were provided but visitors may wish to bring shower gel.... More

I stayed in this delightful place on Saturday 25th July. Well decorated and clean single room and from what I could see the larger rooms all with en suite were as good . Very quiet. Fantastic friendly efficent staff and very central. Oh and really good value. Nice reasonably priced food as well in a charming restaurant.

We stayed over on the night of 29 May. This is a very small hotel, bb? Although they were closed when we arrived we went for coffee around the corner at another hotel. They did mention the hours they were operating. We had a very comfortable room with a nice size bathroom. Both very clean and cozy. Had lots of... More

I stayed in a one beaded room, the room was ok but the bed was awful, springs Brocken I had a very bad nights sleep. When I went down for breakfast there was nothing cooked on offer. I was offered toast but only white bread I don't think the girl even knew what wholemeal bread was.

I booked this hotel over the phone. I told them I'd be arriving late afternoon. When I arrived at 4.15 pm the place was closed. I wasn't told when I booked that they closed between 3 - 6, so kicked my heels for 2 or 3 hours. (I had no idea when they were open again) I ended up having... More
