Having stayed here before and enjoyed the experience we decided to stay again. WHAT A MISTAKE. I could go on forever but I will lay out the worst points. 1 the room was unkept with thick dust and grime on every surface including skirting boards doors and bedside cabinets. 2 The shower head was useless with a bodged up shower... Thank you for taking the time to review our pub. I am very sorry your visit was not as good as your first one. We were doing some work and the window was left open and the room not checked. As you can see from most reviews and have experienced before, this is not our usual standard. Sorry again. More

We stayed for a birthday weekend and had the family room. It's a lovely location, opposite the cricket field and close to local villages and towns. The food was very good and all round it was a lovely country escape and definitely recommended.

Booked the cricketers as we were looking for a place to stay that was close to the M11 as we needed a break in our journey back home to the North. The room was lovely with the most comfortable bed ever, with lovely crisp white linen. the pub itself was set in a picturesque village overlooking the village green, we had... More

Stayed for one night (Saturday) for a getaway break. Visited Saffron Walden and then onto the Cricketers. Beautiful day for early March - village looked lovely and the cricket pitch/green outside the hotel and the whole area was peaceful and relaxing. The room (7) was comfortable and clean. Just being picky here but the ensuite bathroom (shower - no bath)... More

Stayed for just one night whilst on business in the area. The inn is beautiful. It overlooks the village green and cricket pitch and has an old world charm whilst being very modern and cosy inside. The roaring fire was so welcoming as were the staff after a long journey through the wind and the rain. My room ( Room... More

We arrived pretty late and spend only a limited time there, as we had an early flight. The room was clean, no bath but nice bathroom goodies and a squidgy bed. It was quiet and did it's job. The bar served warm white wine and was very expensive but it was nice. The cost to stay in the room was... More

We visited the pub today for Sunday lunch, food , service and pub in general were very good. Children's portions and quality were very generous. We've been looking for a local family friendly pub for Sunday lunch for some time, we have now found it. We will be back soon.

Stayed one night at this pub with rooms on our way back to France with our two dogs. We were more than happy with all aspects of our stay, room (2) was very comfortable, nice bed and linen, large clean bathroom, excellent choice at breakfast and very pleasant staff. I did wonder how noisy it would be in summer given... More

The staff at The Cricketers were extremely friendly and amenable with nothing being too much trouble. The food was superb, both at dinner and breakfast with an excellent choice on offer within the dinner menu and also at breakfast. There was a superb wine list and the choices of meals for dinner were of a very high quality and delicious.... More
