This hotel is a good location approx. 8 miles from Stansted Airport. Rooms are more than ok for the price. The pub is pleasant with a friendly service. It´s a really good place - at least for a stopover before flying from or after arriving at Stansted.

Lovely escape for the wkend. Hadn't visitef Essex before and was very pleasantly surprised. Very friendly helpful staff.. Great food and good choices. Lovely suite ,if the shower was somewhat interesting over the bath.. Fine if you're 4ft nothing! But wouldn't put us off.. Only negative was very weak Vodafone signal and no wifi.. Stayed here for one Monday night, whilst attending a wedding at nearby Quenden. I had requested an early check in as the wedding was at 1:30. At noon we were told that the previous guest still had not checked out. Luckily my son had stayed the night before so we had access to his room to get ready for the... More

Stayed for one night while visiting family in the area on a bed and breakfast only. Pleasant staff check in easy shown to our room which was disappointing. The tiniest bathroom we have ever seen, reminded us of student accommodation very basic. Having said that the bed was comfortable with soft pillows. Breakfast was delicious served by a very upbeat... We booked a room here in the hopes of a short, peaceful getaway. Parts of the stay lived up to that, others didn't. We really enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant, and the service there was very good. We stayed in the bar afterwards and had a few drinks by the fire, which was a really nice way to... More

I stayed at the Cricketers as a base for a 2 day business trip in the surrounding area, arriving on a Sunday evening. The staff were very welcoming, with a 'not a problem' attitude to eating as late as possible waiting for a colleague. The staff service throughout was excellent, not overbearing at all but chatty, friendly with a sense of... More

This is an unpretentious country pub, and anybody demanding more may be disappointed. That said, it ticks all the boxes and the restaurant is well above average. Our room and bathroom were immaculate and the bed very comfortable. We only stayed one night, but we were very happy with our stay, and would go back if we were in that... More

The Cricketers’ Arms at Rickling Green, Essex: we loved it. The Victorian inn overlooks the village green where they’ve played cricket since 1850 –the food and accommodation are great (the beds are particularly comfortable). I wanted somewhere suitable for the members of the Jeff Hawke Club to stay before visiting the Air Museum in Duxford. I didn’t want to stay... More

I booked a superior double room, with a king size bed and en-suite bathroom. The room only had a shower which was terrible. The shower head leaked most of the water down down the hose. The shower curtain would stay in place as it was on a dropping wire. The king size bed was actually just two single beds pushed... More

Everything was really lovely here. Located in a little rural village, it was very peaceful. Staff and food were excellent. Our room was beautifuly done with shabby chic furniture and modern ensuite. Would definately stay again.
