Decided to visit Uplyme and came across the Old Black Dog and what a find. The homemade bread served with the pate was both delicious and large in portion, the chorizo salad was Devine. The views to the rear of the cafe were lovely in our elevated position. Friendly staff and choice of tea galore, surely there will be one... More

This B and B is run by a lovely couple who couldn't be more welcoming. Rooms are spotlessly clean and very well stocked. Beautiful area with dog walks on the doorstep and pubs serving good food within either walking distance or a short drive away. The tea room attached to the B and B is also excellent and we intend... We also used this as a base for Lyme Regis and River Cottage (see the Loricase review below, it's very well written and I agree with it completely). It is a little old fashioned, but very clean and Peter and Pat really could not be more helpful and welcoming hosts. We had a lovely stay. One issue is the walk... More

We were looking for somewhere to stay for our night at River Cottage...this place fitted the bill and some. The B&B is in an old pub with tea rooms attached. It's on quite a busy main road, has 2 (v friendly) resident dogs (kept separate from B&B rooms), is about a 20 minute walk to Lyme Regis (very pleasant through... More

I stayed here recently whilst visiting River Cottage HQ which is a short drive away. The welcome was friendly, beds were comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean. There was a well stocked tea tray and plenty of toiletries were available. The room at the rear had lovely views but that at the front did suffer from some road noise which... More

Peter and Pat as welcoming as ever, breakfast still tasty and the views are still great! As a group staying for a wedding at River Cottage, we had all 4 rooms with 2 people in each. Peter and Pat made sure we could all eat breakfast together as a group (which meant it took a bit longer but was worth... More

After spending a morning at a friend's stables outside Lyme we (my wife and I and our friend) needed post riding refreshment and fast. Our friend suggested the Black Dog Tea Room, part of the Old Black Dog B&B as it was outside Lyme and we did not want to brave the Bank Holiday Weekend traffic in Lyme Regis. Lisa... More

What a wonderful find. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome with a nice cup of tea. Nothing was too much trouble for either Peter or Pat. The rooms were very clean and well presented and stocked with good quality tea/coffee and bathroom products. Breakfast was a treat, more than enough for the whole day... More

This former pub is now a tea room and guest house offering B & B. I stayed here overnight preceding a course at River Cottage Farm nearby. Easy to find a mile or so out of the pretty port of Lyme Regis right on the Dorset / Devon boundary with plenty of room in the car park. Checking in is... More

Found this place by chance after looking for a single nights stay to start the Wessex Ridgeway. All other places in Lyme wanted min of two nights. So glad to have found The Old Black Dog as it is a perfect place to start. Pat and Peter were perfect host on our short stay. Also Tea room staff were very... More
