Amanda and Michael warmly welcomed us, as if we were family, after a long drive. We stayed in one of the lovely self-catering suites which was exactly as described. It was very cosy, clean and comfortable with everything we needed throughout including a tv, dvd player and free wifi. Our 2 young children were very excited about our holiday visiting... More

We really enjoyed our 6 night stay in every respect. The proprietors Michael and Amanda made us extremely welcome from the moment we arrived in the car park. Their company was convivial, nothing was too much trouble, bathrooms and bedrooms were attended to daily with high levels of cleanliness (& we are fussy folk), freshly cooked full breakfasts were tailored... Very nice people Very nice setting Very nice place Very nice and comfortable room and reasonably priced too. If only I had found it years ago. Small bar area with wood burner and almost too nice sitting room. Dining room doubles as Breakfast area and evening restaurant offering a fixed daily meal, that although we ate out, It looked very... We stayed for one night while in the area and we were extremely pleased with all aspects of the experience. From the confirmation emails post booking, the warm welcome, the room, the bar and the breakfast- everything was fab!! Thank you for a comfortable and relaxing stay!

The proprietors Michael & Amanda could not have been more charming and extremely efficient and professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the breakfasts were sublime. On the evening of our arrival we ate in the hotel, and the food was plentiful and delicious. We stayed in room 6 with our bathroom across the corridor [as advised on... More

Your comments are most kind and I did particularly like the fact that you commented on the "green issue" however if we thought that we should change the towels we would have done!!!!!! To most people having to use the bathroom is not a problem but we always tell people before they arrive so there is not a surprise for... More

Stayed at the Harrabeer 13 to 20 July on a walking holiday. The warm hospitality started the moment I arrived, with Amanda providing a welcoming cup of tea and cream scone. Amanda and Michael are wonderful hosts; nothing was too much trouble. Super home made meals, mostly served by Michael, who has a wicked sense of humour. Lovely room (2)... More

Thank you for giving me all the clues as to which of you lovely lot wrote this. Well what a lot of fun we had especially over Blueberries legislation and ECC directives and your subsequent update! We shall of course be responsible hoteliers and be counting ALL blueberries on 1st September that are in our establishment as per amended directive!!... More

I went there with my wife as we wanted to getaway from London for the weekend and it was such a great idea. The problem was that I only booked it for 1 night, which was just silly from my side and now understood why they insist on renting 2 nights during the weekend. Anyways we were so happy with... More

This was our second time staying here. The first visit was in 2011 and we stayed in the upstairs self-catering flat, which was comfy and well-appointed. This year, 2014, we stayed in Room 1 which was spacious and comfortable with a lovely view. The food here is excellent and plentiful. Michael and Amanda are thoughtful and helpful and a lot... More

Amanda and Michael were a breath of fresh air - nothing to much trouble, the only thing was no wifi in my bedroom however I sat in the small bar in a comfy chair with nice surroundings and completed what I had to. Pancakes with syrup and bacon for breakfast - soooooo yummy

When you are on business we want people to feel they are not missing too many of the home comforts and I know it is a pain not being able to get wifi in your room but not a bad option of coming down to the cosy bar area and tapping away if you wish or picking up on the... More

Had the best week ever here, nice quiet rooms, great food, great sense of hospitality, always ready for a cup of tea… Amanda and Michael are always so keen on helping you with whatever you need. They also have a good knowledge of the local sightseeing places you can walk, hike, and see all the sheep, ponies, cattle…

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
HARRABEER COUNTRY HOUSE is small, quiet and family owned offering many attributes of a small HOTEL, with the informality of a BED and BREAKFAST, graded as 4 gold star GUEST ACCOMMODATION and a previous finalist for AA Landlady of the Year. There are 6 comfortable bedrooms: all with ensuite/private bathroom facilities. There are adjoining rooms with a privacy door for families and all rooms are suitable for single occupancy at a reduced room rate. Partake of locally sourced food and wine in the attractive restaurant and enjoy the relaxed surroundings in a gracious sitting room. A wood burning stove burns on cooler evenings in our newly refurbished bar which have uncovered many of the original features that had been lost for decades: or sit in the small but secluded garden when warmer. There are 2 beautiful SELF-CATERING suites in a sympathetically converted barn. Our “self-caterers” are welcome in-house to enjoy the bar, breakfast and evening meals if they wish. HARRABEER COUNTRY HOUSE is conveniently located for an extensive range of outdoor activities on and around Dartmoor with a host of interesting places to visit yet only 5 miles from the award winning market town of Tavistock and 9miles from the city of Plymouth for high street shopping, nightlife and theatre. Major credit cards accepted. We think we have it all ... and with a smile! ... more   less
