The hotel is styled in what i would describe as highland/ moorland chic, which is very fitting given its location on dartmoor. The bars were welcoming as were the fires. This was a sunday lunch visit. The portions where more than satisfying, the puddings delicious. Service, discrete yet attentive. I recommend. Do not confuse with the venue next door which... More

We enjoy a quiet Christmas. Not really into the traditional "festive" activities. Stayed at the White Hart for four nights over this period and had a pleasant and restful visit. Excellent chef and the restaurant was packed for Christmas Day lunch. Karen and her team run a first class operation with nothing too much trouble. If we mention that this... More

Just returned from a 4-day stay. A very warm welcome, the room was beautifully fitted out with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The bar was a warm room, filled with locals and cosily heated by a log fire. The lounge next door was a delightful arrangement of settees and armchairs, a good selection of newspapers and magazines, and our... More

Fantastic food. We had an issue with our evening meal, but you judge a hotel on the way this was rectified which was courteously and without making us feel embarrassed. The staff were friendly and the room was nice.

Fabulous, staff were very friendly and helpful. The manager (sorry can't remember her name at present) made sure everything was done to make us happy. It was a Sunday lunch with friends (sadly slightly over 21, in fact more bordering on SAGA membership Now I think of it) and my two children, (aged 7 & 9). The roast dinners were... More

The rooms are quite small but it's an old Inn and quite relaxing. The WIFI worked perfectly for me. Staff were on the whole very good indeed. Breakfast good quality and plenty of it and waitresses cheerful and efficient. Evening service was either in the bar or separate restaurant. Clearly someone capable in the kitchen and the belly of pork... More

We had agreed to meet friends for lunch, bit of a journey from Torquay but it was somewhere new for us.Worth the trip? Oh yes. We were met at the reception by a very friendly lady, and shown to a lounge with super squishy arm chairs, would we like a drink while waiting for our friends,,but they arrived and we decided to go... Hmm. A touch too poetic perhaps but we arrived after a day of walking and driving over the moors (Exmoor and Dartmoor), we were welcomed and shown to a very nice room with a great view which was very well appointed, very clean and spacious. We had dinner which was also of good quality and served by very enthusiastic staff.... More

I've now been stopping over at The White Hart once every 2-3 weeks for the last 18 months and quite honestly, there is absolutely no-where anywhere in this Country I would rather stay when away from home. Over the 18 months I've gradually progressed from being "Mr. Francis" to "Duncan" and have finally now made it to "love". Result! Anywhere... More

We stayed just 2 nights at the end of half term week, with our 2 boys and jack russell terrier. We were slightly nervous before hand as there is no hotel car park and we were not sure what we would do with the dog during meals. As it was she was welcomed everywhere but the restaurant, so in the... More
