We have visited Plantation House and Hotel on a few occasions and have never failed to be impressed by the cuisine and the service. Thoroughly recommended for that special occasion. We have dined as a couple and with friends and family for that special occasion.

Plantation House is perfectly located for sightseeing in Devon, being not too far from the main Exeter road and within easy reach of Plymouth, Salcombe, Burgh Island, Brixham, Buckfast Abbey and Dartmoor. The furnishings are tasteful, the bedrooms are a good size as are the bathrooms and there is a pleasant terrace on which to unwind after a hard day's... More

My husband and I treat ourselves once a year to a weekend away without the kids, and this was our getaway in March. It's setting is idyllic, we were in a top suite which was huge and beautifully decorated. Little touches like fruit and cake in the room, and a fridge for a bottle of home brought wine if you... We booked for 3 nights at the beginning of July, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in room 21, on the top floor at the front of the hotel. The room was lovely, looking out over the fields and hedges, with all the comforts you need including fresh fruit in the room and high quality toiletries in the bathroom... More

Stayed overnight - this is a more a guest house than a hotel, although saying that the rooms are better than most hotels and the and the personal service and the quality of food is better than any hotel any day of the week. Just lacking in a 24 hour reception area as I arrived late and had to call... More

We only stayed one night (in the gorgeous master bedroom) and were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel. As said the room was beautiful, with loads of little touches often found lacking in other hotels. The food was delicious and well presented. The service was attentive without being intrusive or fawning. The atmosphere was very laid back and... More

Firstly, the basics: the bed and breakfast is well decorated and rooms pleasant. The owner / chef is a very competent cook and clearly cares about the food that is prepared and the wine list is well chosen. The menu and wine list, is not the most innovative but a very good standard. The service and hosting was polite and... More

Trip Advisor is an ideal platform from which to express opinions and we all surely welcome the ability to do so. Here at Plantation House we accept both praise and critisism with equal grace. Therefore, we intend to resist all temptation to express our sentiments that the above report is misguiding, if for no other reason than the factual inaccuracies.... More

I can understand why this excellent establishment has so many positive reviews. Lovely room (22) with lots of extras and plenty of thought. Lovely furnishings and décor throughout. Very attentive host who provided an excellent dinner for us. Breakfast was also excellent. My only issue would be the cost which is certainly at the high end.

This is a little gem, we just keep coming back. The rooms are tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable with everything you might need from a bowl of fresh fruit and a welcoming tea tray with fresh milk, biscuits and cake. The bathrooms are beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. We would highly recommend the evening meal. The chef is clearly passionate... More

All the ingredients here for the perfect getaway break: delicious food, lovely house in a peaceful setting, comfortable and spacious accommodation, all within easy reach of both Dartmoor and the coast. We'd agree with all the positive comments made by other reviewers; this is a friendly, welcoming place where you can unwind and enjoy the exceptional food - properly 'local,... More
