My husband and I stayed here for a short break (without children) for some peace and quiet and to explore the lovely Devon countryside. Plantation House was an ideal setting for both. We were greeted by Richard - Chef/Patron on arrival and made to feel very welcome. We were shown to our room which was pleasantly contemporary without trying too... more

I stayed at the Plantation House with a group of friends with a view toward enjoying a relaxing bank holiday weekend in the country. Richard and his team provided outstanding service--helpful, friendly, timely, but not overbearing. The delicious food was complimented by an unexpectedly good wine list. more

I stayed at the Plantation House for a bank holiday weekend and had a lovely time. Richard, the chef-made-hotelier, prepared consistently very good cuisine throughout the stay. Almost all produce is sourced locally. Breakfast is also a real treat. Although situated in the middle of countryside, the hotel doesn't have significant grounds itself; it would take a couple of minutes... more

I enjoyed a fantastic three-night stay recently at the Plantation. The food in particular is absolutely superb. The owner cooked a three or four course meal each evening that was imaginative and truly sumptuous, and there was a wide range of wines. Breakfast was of an equally high standard. The room was very comfortable and the hotel overall is a... more

We stayed for three nights. The evening meal was expensive but justified. Breakfast was also delicious. The room was clean, good beds, fresh large white towels every day, but the toilet seat and the taps needed some attention on our first night - this was corrected the next morning. The heated towel rail was too close to the toilet -... more

Plantation house hotel is a charming small hotel with an outstanding restaurant. We were shown two bedrooms on arrival both excellent, very difficult to choose. The service at the hotel was excellent, as was the dinner and breakfast. I would go back again, though for a treat a bit expensive. more

I am a seasoned business traveller within the UK and experience many different types of hotel. Due to working within the area for a three week period I needed a hotel close to Plymouth and a colleague recommended the Plantation House... Well what I can say... The hotel is in a wonderful setting and the rooms in which I have... more

I have to write what is going to be a very mixed review of our two night stay. The 3 star represents a mix of 5 and 1 stars. In the context of hotels I have always liked to get what I pay for and have never moaned when the standards drop at say £50 a night. I expect the... more

We had a three day break at this hotel. Period building but a contemporary interior. Bed very comfy and big! welcome extras, robes, fresh fruit and water every day in the room. Breakfast is cooked to order, great ingredients and hot! a rare occurance in many hotels today I find. We had dinner on our last night and it was... more

We stayed one night at the Plantation House on our way to Cornwall. It is a delightful hotel and most unusual for the UK in terms of both charm and service....no dowdy decoration here! The owners are friendly and welcoming, the decor is stunning and the food is quite simply delicious. more
