Stopped here whilst travelling in the area . The countryside and coast around cannot be faulted , sadly the same cannot be said for this place. Rude incompetent staff , poor shoddy decor ( seems like someone has given a chimp a paintbrush ) and rubbish overpriced food.

We were staying in port Isaac but at this time of year end of November most of the establishments are closed mid week so we took the short walk to St Gaverne. Welcoming warm fire, friendly staff Food was exceptional and presented beautifully. Ate here twice during the course of our week as we were so impressed with the food... More

Popped here for lunch for the first time, fantastic food on the lunch menu, great selection and good portions too. Friendly and speedy service. Will definitely be returning soon to try the evening menu!

We recently stayed here for our wedding anniversary. After waiting for well over fifteen minutes at reception, while the young lady ran around like a headless chicken trying to find the owner. We were then barked at for our name and a form pushed in front of us and told .... not asked to sign. At no time was an... More

Spent a three day break here at the end of November. Couldn't have been any better. Fantastic setting, great location, very welcoming & attentive staff, good quality food and Timothy Taylor's Landlord Bitter on draught! We will definitely be returning.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions over the years but this was the first under the new management. The landlord seems to be overcompensating for some of the negative comments and his constant attention started to annoy a little. That said the staff were attentive and friendly. My mussels were well presented, plentious and reasonably priced, two... More

dropped in for tea and scones as we passed through - hosts were very welcoming and the food and atmosphere excellent. reading other reviews not everyone seems to agree - have to wonder whether its a bit of local sour grapes about a change in management as it seemed very good to us - nb, we did not stay in... Having stayed here during the summer, we were easily tempted to return for the beachside bonfire event for a couple of nights. The experience was absolutely fantastic, with tourists and locals alike coming from far and wide to enjoy the celebrations, atmosphere, and the sensational food. I was shocked to read a recent derogatory and apalling review from someone who... More

Spent a lovely weekend here, stayed in a self catering apartment which in itself had lovely views, very spacious but full of flys, many dead ones aswell lying around, had one meal in the resturant, overpriced and very small portions but the worst thing was the staff who were very rude and obnoxious, they ruined the stay, would have gave this review one star but due to... This hotel had a half page advert in the local newspaper giving the date for the Bonfire night fireworks party on November 8th. On telephoning to ask the timings I was told by a laughing woman that it was last week. No explanation, no apology, just a comment that it was lucky that they hadn't put a time in the... More
