Myself and my 2 children plus my sister and her son stayed here for the first time this summer, we had 3 nights in a large peaceful field surrounded by woodland. Cars have to stay in the carpark and trolleys & wheelbarrows are used to take equipment to the site. We needed 7 trolleys!! This is perhaps no ones fault... More

We stayed in the Zafari tent. It was vert dusty and the bed sheets were very old. It does not cost much to replace sheets and duvet covers more often. The shower attached to the tent was not working. This was most disappointing as it his was one of the main reason we booked the tent. We had to use... More

I took my 10 year old son and his friend for 3 nights. It is a lovely campsite hidden by woods. Plenty of space and woods for kids to explore. Being able to light your own fire is one of the bonuses. Wood is sold in the shop for a reasonable price but you could always bring you own. The... More

I visited this site with my husband for a couple of nights in early August. It is worth noting that there is a good 7 minute walk from the car park to the site and you have to transfer your stuff by foot! Once in the field there are no set pitches so you are free to choose where you... More

We went for 3 nights and 4 days with wild camping. It certainly is wild camping! The car park/showers and shop are about a 7 minute walk away. This seemed ok at first but the trolleys are very hard to steer and the paths are very bumpy. Secondly, there was a giant transmission tower on the field (another thing, you... More

Thank for your review and I take on board your comments about the cleaning, obviously everything is cleaned every day but I apologise if this was not up to your satisfaction. I am going to take issue with the other points you raise. The field is a 7 minute (400M) walk from the carpark; this is clearly stated on our... More

We have just returned from 3 nights in the cabin at Dernwood Forest with our children. We had a very relaxed, contented and enjoyable time, in spite of rain, due to the lovely environment and the stylish, utility led design of the cabin which kept us snug and warm throughout. Our children had a lovely time running around in the... More

Tucked away from mainstream life, this is a place where the stress melts away. The safari tent we hired was brilliantly equipped for a three generation family. Children aged between 2 and 10. Comfortable beds, cosy duvets, well equipped kitchen hot and cold water. Excellent shower and a "compost loo" that didn't smell. The kids enjoyed just being able to... More

We have been to Dernwood once before - The last time (2013) we spent 3 nights in the wild camping field and had a thoroughly good time strolling around, eating good food and enjoying some excellent weather. This year, we thought we'd upgrade and reserved the 'Sycamore' plot in the Encampment. The location is gorgeous - deep in the woods... More

From our previous visits a couple of years ago to our last visit the weekend just gone, Dernwood farm has gone from strength to strength with new camping areas and new much needed showers. Like last time we chose the wild camping area which is a great size and even on a beautiful June weekend at no point felt overcrowded... More

Dernwood Farm is a great place to spend some time in the country. We went "wild camping" and found the site to be perfect. We went as a couple but the site is perfect for those with young children who want an authentic and safe way to experience camping. The great thing about wild camping at the site is that... More
