Just spent a lovely night away from London at Thimbles near Heathfield. We were warmly welcomed by the family who were incredible accommodating. Vicki and Simon have a knack for putting people at ease which their delightful children have inherited. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and the whole family made us feel very welcome. They recommended we eat... More

Our first trip to Sussex and we were fortunate enough to get a last minute booking at Thimbles. The house and gardens are very interesting and clearly a labour of love. We had a beautiful room, spotlessly clean, with very comfortable bed, large bathroom and lovely views of the garden and lake. Breakfast was of fresh, home-made food and Vicki... More

It's difficult to add much to what has already been said in previous reviews. Vicki and Simon are delightful hosts as are their two children! The bedroon and ensuite bathroom were lovely, very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was deliciousespecially the sausages and we enjoyed sharing the meal with the family as well as other guests. The garden is amazing... More

This is a truly wonderful place to stay. I feel really privileged to have found it and spent the night there. Vicki, Simon and family are the most delightful people and couldn't be more welcoming. The house and gardens are lovely and the mostly home produced food absolutely delicious. My single room was large, comfortable and airy. Like those who... More

We agree with the previous reviewer right down the line – except that definitely no one in the world should be denied the universal and all inclusive delight of staying in this house and, more importantly still, with this remarkably warm, lively and feet-on-the-ground family. Except I suppose when we want to go there…. so maybe we agree on that... More

This is one of those occasions where I have to wrestle with my conscience about writing a review. On the one hand, I want to shout the virtues and excellence of this wonderful place from the rooftops and on the other, I don't want too many people to discover it so we can never get in again...... This has to... More

All the other positive comments are true; the warm welcome, the idyllic garden, the large tastefully decorated room and the excellent food taken with the family. I know of no other where the bacon, sausages, eggs and honey are all home produced and are absolutely delicious. Thimbles has raised the bar.

Vicki and Simon welcomed our party of four, muddy after a long walk, like old friends and provided an excellent dinner with the family, and comfortable overnight accommodation. Breakfast was, as other revierwers have said, unique home production.Highly recommended.

April 2013. Three companions and I walked the 28 miles from Robertsbridge to Lewes and stayed the night at with Vicki and Simon and their family at The Thimbles. Vicki kindly drove several miles to pick us up and drop us back the following morning. I agree with all the other favourable reviews. We could not have enjoyed a warmer... More

Vicky and Simon made us feel immediately like one of the family when we arrived on a Friday evening. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated with enough space that it felt we were in our own mini apartment. Hospitality was off the scale -Vicky and Simon are lovely and with kind children and funny conversation, the time passed... More
