We had a wonderful stay here over the August bank holiday weekend. The hotel was filled with interesting stories about Thomas Paine; the room was lovely and the staff were very warm and welcoming. This comes highly recommended and if you get a chance to participate in one of the Murder Mystery evenings, it's well worth it!

Stayed here with my girlfriend for 2 nights, we played 75 pounds a night and got given a reasonably small room with the worst shower I have ever used, there was no water pressure and some very stiff taps, I was expecting housekeeping to come in overnight and replace our towels and make our bed which did not happen. Also... More

My wife found this hotel advertised on Groupon and after researching it further, bought the Groupon voucher. We hadn't any specific dates in mind as to when we would use it, but felt we could tie it in with another activity. Well, it so happens we reserved our room for use last Friday, once we arrived we discovered the car... More

This planned at the last minute and what a lovely place it was. Decor was elegant with lovely touches like flowers and candles on the tables. We started with drinks in the bar, then the waitress took us to our table and carried our drinks, nice touch. Lobster bisque soup had a lovely depth of flavour. Followed by Roast Beef and... More

We were bought a groupon deal for here as a present. It was easy to find and parking was fine. We had a lovely welcome and the lady showed us to our room (7). The room was a luxury and very spacious, with a large bed, TV, sofa, dressing table, tea and coffee making facilities, good size bathroom but no... More

A delightful historic property which appears to be in excellent order throughout & is thoroughly clean. Our room (#3) had a large king sized bed with two arm chairs, kettle, tv & 3 massive windows making it very light & airy. There is not much of a view but the area appears to be really peaceful. There were a number... More
