An unexpectedly superior overnight stay. From the onset communication with the owners was spot on; immediate response to email and phone contact. Upon arrival we were met by the welcoming owner and shown to a tastefully furnished en suite room with free wi-fi access, high quality bed/bedding, wall mounted flat screen TV, tasteful furnishings and more fluffy white towels than... more

We were slightly concerned having booked this B&B a few months ago to discover some poor reviews had recently appeared on Trip Adviser. However, I am pleased to say that we did not have the bad experience others have had. On arrival, the owners were out but we were able to telephone and got detailed instructions for getting the key... more

One of 17 B&Bs used en route from John O'Groats to Lands End. Only rated very good because several of others were quite outstanding. But no reservations in recommending. more

Probably not the most interesting of old rectories architecturally, but as guests are confined to a semi-basement it doesn't make much difference. We did not meet the host until breakfast - keys were left for collection (rather insecurely) with no explanation of whether this was standard or due to some crisis - although there was someone at home when we... more

Hubby and I stayed for one night at the old rectory, but wished it was for longer! What a beautiful place. The double room we had was lovely, spotlessley clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was very good, plenty of variety. We found the owners to be very friendly and welcoming. We arrived in a large van but there was... more

Working with B&B's when my mother in law said we were staying in a B&B all I could think was what a waste of time and money. I was proved wrong!! We have two small kids 16 months and 4 years and was thinking we would be given a room that would only be big enough to just fit the... more

Once you read my story I'm sure you can see why there's not a chance of me giving The Old Rectory anything like the five-star reviews that other guests have given it, though I can (up to a point) see where they're coming from. Booked a double room for two nights over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Booked directly with... more

It is amazing to read negative reviews about this hotel and you can only review it as you found it. We stayed for one night (2 Double Rooms). After reading the negative reviews we were a little aprehensive. I can honestly say we could not fault it at all. The rooms were spotless, very modern and clean. The owners were... more
