I stayed here in a party of 4 for a weekend at the end of March, we found it to be absolutely wonderful, Gemma was a diamond, nothing was too much trouble for her and she was absolutely everywhere!!! 50 jobs all rolled into one, the bar was a joy, the food in the bar looked excellent, we had decided... more

Just relised that i have not done a review of a stay in Nov 2007, A Group of us stayed there for a spl Birthday celebration of some of us. The rooms were comfortable, decent bar area with real ales for those of us that enjoyed a decent drink. The meals very good with a wide selection of choice, although... more

I booked this hotel because it is listed in the 2009 edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. So I was looking forward to trying their real ales. The hotel is reached by a gravel driveway that is quite narrow with a small car park at the top. If, like me, you arrive on a dark rainy night then be prepared... more

The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The shower was not up to much - wouldn't have wanted to wash my hair! However we were very disappointed with the quality of the food in the restaurant. Everything on the starter menu sounded as though it came from the freezer and was deep fried. I had the... more

Stayed at this hotel when the current management had just taken over and found it to be excellent value for money, with clean rooms , friendly staff etc etc. Stayed again weekend of 22/23rd September this year and what a disappontment. Stayed in Room 11 which was VERY tiny with a smaller than normal double bed, shabby paintwork and poor soundproofing.... more

We stayed for five days at this hotel in May, 2007. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in room 3 (deluxe double) with a good sized room, queen sized bed(moderately firm) and a connecting private bath. The pub is smoke free and the proprietor is a beer afficianado. The morning English breakfast is... more

I've stayed at the Stuart House on business several times and it's fine for an overnighter. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned and small, but are clean and warm. The pub is great with a good choice of real ales and the food in the bar is pretty good. My only complaint is that the wireless internet is flaky and... more

I was disappointed with the quality of the accommodation, particularly the room. It was a standard double room which, in my view, was small with not a great deal of room to move. The equipment in the room was dated - very large old TV, ancient electric kettle that took forever to boil and the bathroom needs renovation. The shower... more

As the title says, it was ok. It is clean, the staff are freindly...but...and you can hear the but before it gets here. The food lets it down. I had a steak and kidney pudding which was unremarkable. I also had the mushroom rissotto which was supposed to be made from field mushrooms. The sauce was bland and I did... more

Stayed here overnight and was most impressed by the quiet location and warm welcome. The bar does a good range of beers. I enjoyed the evening meal - good thought out menu - and wine list. Breakfast wasn`t quite as good with slower service and I thought rather a stuffy atmosphere, but this may have been the mix of people... more
