not so impressed with this afternoon experience of tea and scones at the Icworth hotel after ordering the tea arrived 10 minutes later and we were informed that the scones were to follow..... 30 minutes later we called a waiter for him to reappear 5 minutes later with a lovely presented plate of uncooked and frozen scones. Needless to say... more

Stayed 2 nights on a Romantic Package. Found Hotel to be very welcoming from the minute Paul (Porter) met us on the steps. All the staff are extremely friendly and cannot do enough to help, majority are local staff and any non local staff spoke good English and were as helpful as everyone . Room was a good size with... more

We're a couple with an 8 year old child. We stayed at the Ickworth Hotel three years ago and I was quite expecting things to have gone down hill with its takeover by the von Essen Group. Some things are a little worse: the furniture in the lounges is the same and is showing the wear of the last three... more

We booked a large double for on night. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and perfect for those wanting stuff for kids AND peace and quiet! I'm not sure if we were given the right room, which is supposed to accommodate up to three children, as with our two it was very cramped. Room lovely otherwise and the bathroom was... more

I think the unanimous 'great location' sells this hotel. The Hotel needs a great deal of TLC and a makeover!!! Our room was cramped with old furnishings and NOT with items you'd expect as standard, such as tea and coffee facilities, perhaps DECENT biscuits and fruit thrown in. There is no proper bar and the public rooms are gloomy and... more

We stayed in Molly's room for £290 - bed was hard - pillows were hard - nowhere to put baggage - curtains torn and hanging off rail - shower had no power - one basin was cracked - one bathroom light not working - no tea/coffee facilities - no welcome fruit - window glass starred and cracked - bathroom bin... more

We stayed here for a family member's special birthday treat, so we booked 4 rooms (one being the suite). It wasn't cheap, but then we needed that combination of luxury setting with a good dining experience and child-friendly accommodation, to satisfy a range of ages from 7 months to 65 years! The hotel is set in one wing of a... more

We have stayed at The Ickworth on numerous occasions and have always had a wonderful time where we go home relaxed and refreshed, a rarity when holidaying with 3 sons! The grounds are stunning, the food; exquisite, the staff; friendly and helpful. We usually stay in one of the roomy apartments and have mananged to have the same lovely babysitter... more

With reference to previous reviews most staff are great and location is good......but is 'recession' being used to boost egos and line the pockets of the boastfully prosperous Von Essen group? The hotel is in a lovely setting with lovely grounds and a great National Trust facility. The hotel itself seems to be a bit pear shaped. Cleanliness needs to... more

We have just returned from a 2 day stay at the Ickworth Hotel having booked a spa break. Having stayed at other hotels in this group we felt quite disappointed as Ickworth isn't - in our opinion - of the same high quality. We were told we would be allocated a family room - large enough for 5 people. However... more
