Stayed during my C2C. Arrived after a long walk from Shap in very hot weather to a very warm welcome from Mary and within a few minutes I was enjoying a strong cup of tea with homemade Victoria sponge in the comfort of Mary's garden. The room was well equipped; loads on instant hot water; a very comfortable bed; and... More

We stayed at Mary's unexpectedly - the ground was sodden and boggy so we wimped out of another wet campsite. Mary could not have been more welcoming - cake and tea, kindness and concern for our comfort. The house is lovely - clean, comfortable and spacious. I doubt there is a kinder person in Kirby Stephen and it was very... More

Mrs G is the most fantastic host ever. I rang ahead to let her know we were on our way and when we arrived, were greeted with tea and cake. It was 4 cups later when I actually took luggage to room. Mrs G was so interested in our C2C walk and hung on every word. She was one of... More

Lockholme is situated in an impressive Victorian House with open fields to the front and a fine garden to the rear. The rooms are large, comfortable, and well appointed. What makes it special however is the extraordinary kindness of Mary, for whom nothing is too much trouble. She greets you with tea and cake on arrival. She will happily run... More

Stayed as part of the Coast to Coast walk. Mary made us very welcome by offering home made cakes, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotless, comfortable with a new flatscreen tv. Excellent bathroom. Tasty breakfast too. I'd thoroughly recommend to anyone.

The title says it all really! I was walking the coast-to-coast & my tour company had organised accommodation at Lockholme. I was delighted to be greeted by Mary with a tray of tea & home made sponge cake, which was especially welcome after a very long day's walk! The bed & pillows were very comfortable & the chairs in the... More

Was warmly greeted by host with Victoria Sponge and a pot of tea after a tiring day on arrival with the added bonus of great view looking towards Nine Standards. Would recommend a stay and would easily go back.

A private residence and delightful. A very warm welcome from a lovely woman - sponge cake and a pot of tea - and a genuine feeling of being made welcome. Lovely bright and clean room - and a great night's sleep.

After a particularly nasty day of wet, wet, wet hiking on the Coast to Coast walk, we were greeted by Mary at Lockholme with 2 delicious pieces of sponge cake and a tray of tea upon our arrival. We were about done in, but Mary's kindness and our welcoming room were appreciated beyond words. Breakfast the next morning was on... More
