Firstly, this review isn't based on the Hotel although a family member has stayed here within the last year and said they enjoyed the whole experience. On the way back, after completing the 3 peaks, we decided to eat here as we've never been disappointed in the past. We arrived just before 5:30pm and were informed that they only served... More

We broke our journey south with a night here recently. Kirkby Lonsdale is a charming village about 10 miles from the M6 motorway, and we booked the Orange Tree as it looked like it had some character. In that respect we were not disappointed. The hotel is essentially a pub (the haunt of the local rugby team, judging by the... More

Recommended by a colleague from NZ, couldn't have been a better place to stay for the Lake District, and to move on to Scotland. A real English pub with a Rugby twist. Staff couldn't be more friendly and obliging, from folding our washing to setting up live streaming for the All Blacks England test match. Good beer, GREAT food, wonderful... More

Stayed here recently and was initially very excited as it looked nice and the reviews were good. The location is great but our room was average at best, not good value, the bed was full of hard springs and to top it all there was a v noisy party that went until past midnight - we had no chance of... Stayed in beautiful Kirkby Lonsdale for just one night and chose The Orange Tree as our usual B&B was full. It's a lovely traditional rugby themed pub and the welcome by the bar staff was particularly nice and friendly. The rooms are situated above the pub via some precarious stairs (take care when going upto your room!) but you can't... More

We have just come back from kirkby Lonsdale, we stayed in the orange Tree for three nights, Thursday to Sunday. We stayed in the main house which is called the court yard. Our room was very large victoriana decor, with two windows one overlooking the gardens and the other we could see the church clock! The bathroom was also very... More

We decided to travel here for lunch based on the Good Beer Guide entry, and we weren't disappointed. This is a nice pub in a nice small town. Excellent range of beers (as you'd expect from a Camra pub of the year), mostly local, and well kept. Very nice food, well presented, though my medium to well done steak came... More

This place has a nice authentic country pub feel to it. There are a few other places like this in Kirkby but for my taste they are a bit too polished compared to the Orange Tree. We had a room on the top floor which was nice, spacious and clean with a comfy bed. The staff were always friendly and... More

Broke my journey from Glasgow to Birmingham here as I was seeing a friend. Room was lovely, spacious and the bed gave me the best nights sleep in a hotel in ages. Can't comment on the breakfast as I was away before the birds started chirruping
