Im over In the UK from Australia for a holiday with my girlfriend. I stayed two nights at the Bear, the rooms were priced well, and cleaned appropriately. The food was priced well and was lovely and the staff were friendly and had a personality and sense of humour. the most important thing for me was to have a fully stocked... More

We came from a very bad hotel experience in Brighton to this lovely hotel and wish we stayed here for both nights away from home! We loved the family room, as we travelled with a small baby. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and neat. We loved the food in the pub as well. The only complaint we have is that... More

The bar staff gave us a warm welcome. The waitress was delightful. My husband had roasted tomato linguine and I had chilli beans in a jacket potato served with sour cream, when our meal arrived there was no sour cream. The waitress went back to the kitchen and arrived back saying they had run out but had made their own,... More

Booked a room at last moment, and wasn't disappointed. We had room 33 which is above the room used for wedding receptions and functions. Could be a problem to some guests, because of load music being played late. Although the music was loud, we enjoyed the free entertainment! Our room was very spacious with a huge bed, clean and quite... More

There are some issues with this hotel but those we raised were promptly and politely dealt with. The staff were unfailingly helpful, friendly and polite. The food was fine(evening meals good and breakfast very good-no complaints here and I am not easily pleased!) and our room, though not overlarge, was OK.

We live locally and dine out every Thursday lunchtime but on this occasion the chef had not turned up at our regular haunt.Reluctantly we called in The Bear. Reluctantly because locally its reputation had suffered badly after a takeover at the end of 2013.Mainly because of poor and slow service. This was not our experience. We were warmly welcomed by... We stayed for two nights to attend a family wedding in the town. Thankfully we had booked a luxury room and enjoyed the space and the very nice super-king bed. However it was disappointing to find the room lacked basics such as pen and paper, tissues etc whilst boasting a trouser press. Other family members were not so lucky and... More

The Bear Hotel, Hungerford. Located at the north end of Hungerford and adjacent to the river, The Bear Hotel is an excellent place for exploring a lovely part of the countryside. Two very good walks east or west of Hungerford start right at the door and are well described in guides in reception. Both follow the Kennet and Avon Canal... More

The staff at this hotel are amazing. From the initial reservation by phone and email (Caroline), the warm welcome on arrival after a very long journey from the receptionist (Amanda), the bar staff at lunch and our waitress Hannah at dinner, all were professional, approachable, informative and had a sense of humour. The room (Room 4) was a spacious family... More

Just got back from attending a wedding in Hungerford. We accepted a recommendation from friends to stay at 'The Bear' for two nights. Our bedrooms were in the courtyard, which proved to be a huge mistake! Because of the hot weather, the courtyard was packed in the evening with diners and drinkers. One particularly rowdy table of eight (which was... More

We are sorry to hear of your disappointing visit. Our courtyard is very popular in the summer months and in the evenings then the tables by the courtyard rooms do tend to be occupied by other residents. We do ask that our guests respect each other and are sorry to hear that you were disturbed by the guests above and... More
