Ratings on trip advisor offer 3 (average) or 4 (very good). We would like to rate 3 1/2 (good) for most aspects. The hotel is in a beautiful historic mansion in a narrow cobbled street in the old town of La Oratava. We had a slightly bad start to our stay as we felt rather unwelcome when we arrived. It... Oh dear. This was rather disappointing after the positive reviews. The hotel is badly in need of refurbishment. There was an unpleasant smell in the bedroom throughout our stay which we put down to the ancient stained carpet. Must have been there for years. Everything about the place suggested that money was tight including a lack of staff when you... More

We recently had a night in this rated hotel. On arrival we had to wait 40 mins to check in as the one guy we could see was doing all the restaurant covers (26) plus bar plus check in. The room was twee but tired with a squeeze in shower ( I'm not a heavyweight!). Dinner was shocking. Waited 20... More

Great place, traditional old hotel, great location, great staff, and most of all, fantastic food/restaurant. Arcadia was particularly helpful in sorting us out with rooms (good natured as he showed us round all the available rooms until we agreed on one!) and excellent in the restaurant too. Here we complemented the chef and he came out to greet us, and... More

Having stayed here four years ago had always meant to return. When we did we were treated like royalty and even given our favourite room (102 with a great balcony). Miguel, barman and sommeliere extraordinaire, still thrilled with the G&T to beat all comers and his knowledge of beautiful Canarian wines. Richard, the excellent Scottish chef, is still exciting tastebuds... More

We stayed here four days in mid February. It was quite difficult to get parked due to the hotel being in the historic centre, where the streets are very narrow, cobbled and on steep inclines with a constant stream of traffic. The building is lovely with a nice lounge/bar area and is in the heart of the historic centre. We... More

This is a lovely charming hotel built around a courtyard in the heart of La Orotava. The room was big with a high ceiling and a great view over some of La Orotava towards the sea. A good selection for breakfast, included in the room price, was a bonus. The receptionist was very helpful finding us a parking space on... More

The hotel is located in the center of an old historic village with very narrow and very steep streets, and the building is an old villa respectfully restored as a hotel. Our room was spacious with nice old furniture and a limited view, but from the roof terrasse you had a good view of both the sea and the vulcano... More

Really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is built around a traditional Canarian courtyard - now glassed in and offers lots of comfortable seating. The room, although smallish, was comfortable with reasonable view. Central heating was really appreciated and hot water not a problem. The hotel has one car park space (two if small cars) in the road outside for... More

Only dined here. The restaurant has been Michelen listed for a number of years and has a well deserved Trip Adviser Certificate of Excellence. The restaurant is in the glass covered central courtyard and you are surrounded by the tasteful elegance of an historic La Oratava villa. The chef is Scottish and the food is invariably excellent.
