We returned to the Hurricane at the beginning of October 2009 for four nights for one of "those" birthdays - our fourth time at the hotel. It is so laid back it's just about horizontal! Nice little bar overlooking the beach and sea, and there are usually kite and wind surfers around to watch. Wonderful food at luch times here... more

First time to Tarifa and first time to Hurricane Hotel. It won't be the last. I've been told that this is the place to stay and I agree. The hotel is shabby chic and the rooms pretty but not luxurious in any uber modern sense....but it's got an atmosphere to die for. The restaurant is superb, the bar lovely, the... more

Excellent laid back athmosphere. After several visits I would say the feel is like one could imagine in an expensive understated "youth hostel" for well off 30yr olds with or without families. Interesting guests of all ages. Do consider the Hurricanes sister hotel PUNTA SUR which is opposite (10 minutes walk). A different layout and room style. more

Adore it

Love this hotel. Have stayed here 5 times in the last 7 years. Usually visit there in September or October, but this year we tried it out in December. The ambience is magic. It has a very Moroccan feel and the rooms, gardens, pools and restaurant are wonderful. Breakfast has a wide choice of meats, cheeses, fruit, breads, fruit, eggs... more

Sullen staff and the chaotic reception, breakfast and bar detracted only slightly from the charm of this beach hotel which, while laid back, also manages to be as trendy as all hell. Relaxed rooms (no TVs) are comfortable, if a little overpriced, and the spacious marble bathrooms are clean. Two pools (one of which seemed to be constantly fringed by... more

The Hurricane is a good looking hotel right next to the beach and with lovely surroundings, but the rooms are fairly basic and apart from the cleaners who were very nice, and one or two others, the majority of the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful or just plain rude. This wasn't due to the language barrier as we ate in... more

It started of so well... we turned up, managed to get the last room, settled in, and sat down in the great beach bar for a fab sea view and cold drink. The beach bar: The staff were lovely, really helpful and friendly. Everyone one was upbeat and the atmosphere and food was great. The room: Nothing amazing for the... more

stayed here late February, 2008 in a single room facing the mountain. The room faces a garden, actually. I would say this is a hotel with considerable style and charm. From the hotel lobby the view travels past the pool and through a narrow opening of shrubs out to the Mediterranean. The hotel has a relaxed feel but serves fine... more

We booked the Hurricane because it appeared to be the place to stay in Tarifa based on other reviews. Now I'm not so sure. The hotel is located west of Tarifa and a little difficult to find. Spain has their turn lanes on the right shoulder in order to turn left into the property. The parking lot was small and... more

Beautiful rooms and gardens, great food and we found the reception staff to be extremely helpful. They gave us directions and let us leave our car parked at the hotel for 4 days while we went to Morocco. If you want to spend a bit more, get a family suite with a private patio in the back. Like other reviewers,... more
