We have stayed in several Paradors through the years. This one just isn't quite up to their exacting standards. The rooms are dated, the internet service is poor. Breakfast is good. The majority of the renovation money went into the general facilities not the actual rooms. Disappointing really.

With the Paradores Nacionales you always known what to expect. The only differences are that some are in exotic locations, in refurbished old buildings of historical interest, others are simply modern hotels. The Parador de Jaen is one of the former, sited in an old castle on a hilltop above Jaen. We wanted to visit Cordoba to visit the mosque,... More

Jaen has not got too many hotels and although the Parador is a bit off hand and old fashon and need a referbish it is the most beutiful place to see the sun set over the town. If the weather is hot it is even a bit cooler that the town itself. Rooms are clean and the breakfast is very... More

After getting lost on the narrow twisting streets of Jaen, and struggling to drive in a major rainstorm we finally figured out which long, steep and winding road would bring us to the top of the imposing hill overlooking the town. There we found a warm welcome in this remodeled castle. Our room, named Romantica, was huge. We had a... More

We (my wife and I) recently stayed two evenings at the Parador de Jaen. This was a spur of the moment stop, as we were unfamiliar with the Parador chain before arriving in Spain. Coming from Sevilla, we spent the day in Cordoba before traveling via train to Jaen (taxi to/from the hotel ranges from 9-11 euro) and the next... More

The Parador chain has multiple old and renovated castles in Spain. The setting is wonderful- the winding road takes you up to the top of the hill in Jaen and gives an outstanding view of the countryside. The parking- is free! Something difficult to find in Spanish and French towns. The setting was wonderful and the building is under ongoing... More

During our trip through Andalusie we wanted to stay once in a Parador hotel, this one seemd excellent. The hotel is located on the top of a hill in a nature reserve. The view from our room into the valley was superb, we sat on our balcony in the sun reading a book and enjoying the scenary. Because it is... More

We wanted to spend a night in a medieval castle and this parador fit the bill. We felt like we had traveled back in time to the 18th-century as we explored the rooms and corridors. Thick stone walls, carved shuttered windows, high, arched ceilings, wooden beams and beautiful, tiled floors throughout. The decor reflects the history of the castle, using... More

This parador has fabulous views of the mountains, the countryside and the city of Jaen. The view of the cathedral from the cross viewpoint is stunning especially at sunrise and sunset.
