Oh dear. Flipping through the 80th anniversary issue of the Paradores magazine, I saw that the president notes that a number of paradors are lined up for refurbishment. Let's hope Jaen is included! We enjoyed staying at Parador de Jaen, particularly since it was right on the tail of our visit to Granada. I stayed only for one night. The hotel is on the top of a hill, about 6km all teh way up from downtown Jaen. The hotel/castle is beautiful, our room overviewed the mountains, just fantastic. This Parador is quite spectacular inside but our room was quite basic. The pool was out of use despite it being very hot. We had to eat in the Parador since it is quite a way into the town of Jaen. A very good Parador, situated alongside a Moorish Castle above the town of Jaen. The Parador itself is not a castle, but has been sympathetically built from the same stone as the adjacent castle and the interior architecture lends a medieval feel. I cannot find anything to criticise about the hotel. It has the quality feel that lovers of Paradors... more

although this isn't actually in the castle, but in a building built onto the side, you felt that you were in the castle itself. It had beautiful rooms, and fantastic views. loved this hotel more

Stayed here in March 2008. Having stayed at a number of other Paradors we expect that the standards are always high. Jaen was tired, and the Parador is too far from the town.
