We live in the vicinity and know the hotel very well. We book occasional nights (usually a Sunday, towards the end of each month) to really relax and unwind. The hotel is just so peaceful, the beds are amazingly comfortable and it makes a wonderful retreat, away from home. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

All the writing and photographs will not come close to actually being there....finding it is part of the feature.....when approaching and you see nothing other than stunning scenery with a Golf Course adjacent, you have to stop and blink for the double take. The Convent is set in an absolutely stunning location and you can actually walk to the town... More

This hotel is just wonderful. Lovely old building, with lots of interesting and beautiful spaces to while away time. It is so peaceful. The rooms are furnished in keeping with the old building, but with very large modern bathrooms. Great Spa, which I had all to myself on both occasions I went there. The restaurant is fantastic, and not too... More

We stayed here two nights as part of a cycling holiday. It was pristine with some stunning aspects but we felt that it had lost a little of the authentic feel in the restoration. The public rooms were grand and the restaurant had fab views over the valley and beyond. The Restaurant food was very good too. The breakfast was... More

My first room had a rainhead shower, but no hot water. So, I was moved to another room, which had no rainhead shower, instead offering a nozzle with a fixture that had broken off the wall. I asked for another room and the surly, unapologetic clerk told me there were no other choices. Avoid this disaster.

We had a 2 night stay at the hotel Magdalena. It was rather difficult to find as signs ran out travelling up the hill out of the town of Antequera which was well worth a visit for a pretty small town and lovely tapas. Beautiful surroundings and gorgeous hotel to look at. A little tired inside and could do with... More

Situated outside Antequera, this hotel is set amongst olive groves with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. We had a Junior Suite which was very spacious and comfortable. The whole hotel site is spotlessly clean. A spa is available and we thoroughly enjoyed using it. Breakfasts were very, very good - an enormous choice of quality food. Why only rating... More

Hotel location is far from the town. Not easy to get there by car if you are new to the area. From downtown to the hotel it is 15 euros by taxi. Hotel is luxury, breakfast, service and rooms are all perfect . Indoor swimming pool was amazing

We stayed at this hotel and found it to be a really lovely relaxing place to stay. It is quiet and understated and in a beautiful location. The breakfast was quite frankly the best I have ever seen or eaten and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Ask for directions to the pilgrim route and you can walk... More

Positive: Great location with stunning countrysideviews, comfortable room lovely old monastery building and the restaurant is good. Negative: Spa area is bit tired, reception staff less than motivated given this is a 5* hotel (indifferent and unhelpful at best!)
