Good value for money hotel, with excellent location and very nice ambience. After all it's an ancient fortress with loads of History. Nice rooms with all the commodities of new hotels. The problem is the service. Checking in, i had to argue with the receptionist to get the best rate for my room and every morning we had to wait... More

Worth visiting for he building itself. The hotel is within the old fort. Modern construction is very sympathetic to the history so there is comfort with atmosphere. The walk, within the walls, from the main accommodation wing to the restaurant is simply marvellous. Chaves is also brimming with history and historic buildings, including a bridge built in AD100.

We stayed at this Hotel in September 2014, what a beautiful Hotel this is, from the reception staff, to the rooms, everything was excellent. We didn't use the pool as it was a bit cool, but the pool area was amazing. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here, on the two days we stayed, and couldn't fault it. The food... More

What a hotel and location. A hotel within the walls of a fort. The public areas are elegantly furnished - both reception and the building opposite that houses the restaurant, games/billiards rooms, a small art gallery etc. The receptionist was friendly and efficient and gave clear instructions to find our room which was one the first floor with views to... A hotel on a Portuguese National Monument! Amazing history! In the very beginning there was a franciscan convent ("Convento de São João da Veiga"). In 1629, the monks moved to the hills of Pedisqueira and built a new convent ("Convento de Nossa Senhora do Rosário"), that was later, due to its strategic location, turned into a fort ("Forte de Nosa... Good points: This old historical hotel is certainly one I would like to visit again. It is located in the town of Chaves and you can walk to everything - the local markets, shops and the free concerts which are available in July. The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful and are a great asset. The premium room we... More

Very nice modern rooms in a beautiful place. Unfortunately the airco, in the ceiling, blows right over- and in your face. The breakfast is very, very simple (they charge only € 5,- for it, so deon't expect much). Dinner is average to good (also very cheap). In total, we liked the place.

We stayed at this place for one night and it was the best option. It is located in the city centre and it is a beautiful place to stay. This is a Forte with walls like a castle all around. It is worth visiting itself even if you are not staying. The rooms are very well decorated and very comfortable.... More

The hotel is lovely, in a former convent and fortress dating back to the 17th c., which was of great importance during the Peninsular War against Napoleon's invasion of Portugal. The church is also worth visiting. The hotel has all modern comforts, rooms in the historical aisle are more spacious than in the modern one, but both are beautiful with... More

The hotel venue is lovely and it is worth spending time to look around the building where the restaurant is, there are games available too chess, cards, a pool table and table football game. The hotel bedroom building is very 70's in style and clean and bright. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and we slept well. All the staff we... More
