Had reason to stay at this hotel in March as I was attending a conference in the town and was very pleasantly surprised with the place. Centrally located, within a short stroll to the town centre. Plenty of free parking to the rear of the hotel. Young, friendly and enthusiastic staff were happy to engage in conversation whether at reception,... More

I was at a birthday party in the Shirley Arms Hotel, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, recently (Mar 2015). The food was excellent, very tasty and served with a smile. However, the tea, served after the meal, was quite undrinkable. I just wonder, if the tea containers, need a fresh washing ? Pity, because the hotel is charming in all other respects.

Did not stay overnight in this hotel but visiting Carrickmacross I decided to pop in here for a morning coffee. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly. I ordered a black decaf coffee and she kindly brought me a pot which was lovely to get as I was going to read my newspaper. As my husband was working in the... More

Stayed just one night in the Shirley Arms, really comfortable spacious rooms with everything you need. Boring view over car park but lots of parking spaces. Lovely staff and decent breakfast, though it was a tad expensive for the location.

The hotel was amazing, the staff were brilliant, the food was amazing. The only problem we found was that it was very loud in the room due to a 70th party down stairs, apart from that, an amazing stay.

This is a lovely hotel which I would have no problem returning to. Rooms are big, clean and well laid out. Plenty of good safe parking. Food was very good in the bar and the restaurant. But it's the staff that make the difference, they are so helpful and friendly. Only negative thing about the hotel is the conference facilities... More

Excellent rooms, comfortable beds and great Irish made toiletries make an overnight a very pleasant experience. The breakfast is really god with more than the usual choices- I had Eggs Benedict. Good rates too! The hotel and Carrickmacross are worth a visit.

We stop by here at least a few times a year because the food and service is good. Its what I'd call honest food. The type of place you can bring your parents to and they'll enjoy a good dinner. The food is average fare but its good quality and the service and friendliness of the staff makes it worthwhile... More

We stayed in the Shirley Arms Hotel on Valentine’s Night 2015 and we have to say we were very impressed by everything. The hotel was modern, clean, welcoming, busy, spacious, great parking facilities at rear and we want to highlight the friendliness and warmth of the staff. All the staff had smiles on their faces and it made you feel... More
