I booked Ghan house for an overnight stay for my husband's birthday. I had read some great reviews and had good reports on the quality of food. It didnt disappoint. It is hidden in a peaceful area of Carlingford surrounded by lovely gardens. We stayed in the garden room (not in the main house). The room was large and very... More

We stayed in Ghan House for three nights and travelled from there each day to the Irish Open in Newcastle. It was an inspired choice. Each morning the proprietor got up early (before 7am) and cooked a superb breakfast and sent us happily on our way. Dinner was really good and we also savoured the local hospitality in Carlingford village.... More

We stayed for 2 nights and thought it was a lovely house and area, well worth the detour off the Belfast to Dublin road. The staff were all wonderful and attentive, nothing appeared to be any trouble. On the Saturday they clearly us a busy day with a large hen party and a houseful of guests. Despite being busy the... A very pleasurable day and stay at this beautiful country house with rooms. The grounds are flanked by a beautiful view of the mountain while being in close proximity to the coast. The house had a warm intimate feel with traditionally decorated side rooms with prominent fire places. The food was of a high standard and the staff were friendly.... More

Gorgeous room, great unusual wine selection (loved the wine rack!), and fantastic food. The taster menu was too much for us - not small portions!! All the staff were lovely and very attentive. We'll be back

Carlingford town has probably the best collection of mediaeval remains in Ireland, in a pleasant area of mountain and coastal scenery, and a good collection of castles , pubs, restaurants and interesting shops. We chose two nights in Ghan House as an escape from present worries. We had been there once before. It is not perfect. It is a small family-owned... More

We've spent the weekend in Ghan House and were slightly nervous in advance, having read some bad reviews but also having read many very good reviews. I'm glad to say that the good reviews are correct. It is a lovely, small country house hotel. The perfect getaway for a couple of nights. I use a wheelchair so access is important... More

My wife and I have just returned from celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in Ghan House - and what a "pearl" it was. After Orla's helpful assistance during the original reservation process, we were warmly welcomed, on arrival, by owner Paul who was very much "hands on" - with his gsoh ! - for the rest of our most enjoyable... Booked a package of 2 nights B&B and one dinner but were not sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but we were glad that we chose Ghan House because we had a really enjoyable stay. The staff were very welcoming, our room was clean and spacious with a tea and coffee tray which most definitely had... More

My Wife and I stayed in Ghan House for a night away. The house is full of the character that you would expect where so many of the 18th century features have been retained. The open fire in the hall was very welcoming as were the attentive staff. The room was tastefully decorated and the en suite was recently refurbished... More
