Stayed here for two days this week. Manager Steve came across as very relaxed and easy going. Got a quiet, warm and clean room. All guests in bed by 10.30pm so slept well. Walking distance from hill. Enjoyed breakfast of coffee and scones. Quirky place which suits me. Ex- 4 star Hotel Training Manager

Where do I get started well here's the list Damp smelly stagnant air that almost made me vomit which isn't helped by the windows none of which work.. The beds were damp on arrival.. The owner... I Have stayed in this hostel many times and its an artisans paradise. This hostel retains the true character of Ireland it is a fabulous old world building, very reasonably priced and a great homemade breakfast included. The owner Stephen is a very interesting character with a wealth of local knowledge and respect for culture ,. I have always found... More

Stayed here 2 nights on my first trip to western-Ireland. Staff was extremely welcoming and the hostel was adorable. Loved the combo of old features spiced up with newer, hippier style. Maybe not the cleanest place I've seen but that kinda fits the old (monastery) style. Excellent location and comfy, clean beds. Definitely gonna come back here some day!

It was our second stay in this hostel, and I have to say we will NEVER go back again!!! Previously we stayed over Easter holidays, hostel was full of people but the atmosphere and management were OK. However, this stay over New Years Eve was a nightmare. We're a family of four, and we planned to stay in hostel for... More

I remember staying here a couple of years ago on a university fieldtrip to County Connemara and County Clare. Undeniably one of the best hostel experiences I have had around the world. Its probably not to everybody's liking, but if you have an open mind and want a different experience then you can't go wrong with this place. This quirky... More

Although we didn´t stay here, we received a recommendation to hire cycles from Steve here and we visited the hostel, which seems to be a nice place for those on a budget. The bike that we rented were really good quality and Steve gave us good ideas about what to visit on our day out

I stayed there for three nights with a friend. The hostel is located near by Connemara National Park (a treasure in any seasons!), the owner is very friendly. Great breakfast, really appreciated before a hiking day. Loved the hostel atmosphere, especially the bathrooms and atypical decorations all over the place! I will definitively come back. Moreover, locals are very charming... More

If you're looking for a special experience this is the place to go. You may think you enter an antique shop when you go in. The creaky floorboards, the hanging books, the welcome board, the themed rooms: The office, church, safari.. everything makes you feel like you’re out of this world. Dust is part of the decor. One must have... More

I stayed at this hotel a few years ago while living in Galway. It was by far my favorite hostel I've seen. The outdoor area is perfect to sit and relax after touring Connemara! I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a relaxing outdoor retreat!
