I stayed at this hotel a few years ago while living in Galway. It was by far my favorite hostel I've seen. The outdoor area is perfect to sit and relax after touring Connemara! I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a relaxing outdoor retreat!

Myself, my husband & our 2 kids (8 &10), loved our stay at this hostel at the weekend.great food & music sat night..Highly recommend it for families. Met lots of interesting people. Highlight was showering to flashing christmas tree lights & john mccormac singing molly malone on the radio - surreal!

This hostel felt like home the minute we arrived. A breath of fresh air that absolutely set the tone of the trip. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a little sanctuary as long as you like things unique and laidback.

This were the worst place I ever lived in! It wasn't clean, it smelled and the owner was odd. I should have read about it, at Tripadvisor, before i booked the room. I was e-mailing with the owner about a singleroom and the price for it. We agreed 15 Euro pr. night but when I arrived the price was 25... More

This is a place like no other. We found it by accident but picked it out right away. It is crowded with books, accessories and colors! The host is unexpectedly quiet for such a place, but warm and lovely. In the morning each guest gets a free home made breakfast - I especially enjoyed freshly baked bread. The hostel is... More

I was travelling with my grown up kids, who love the charm of Monastery Hostel. It reminded me of some of the best moments when travelling myself at their age.I certainly would have adored it at that time. This time, I met a lot of young, interesting people, easy-going and thoughtfull , a mixed age-range from families with young kids,... More

Don't be fooled by the exterior which could do with a major declutter! If you want to escape totally this is the place to go. It's basic but clean and very comfortable and the location is very convenient for walking, relaxing and popping down to the local shop so it ticks all the boxes. The microwave doesn't work so there's... More

I stayed at the Old Monastery hostel for two nights to enjoy the surrounding area of the Connemara national park. The owner is a quiet guy who doesn't talk as much as others might expect him to, however he is polite and quite friendly. The bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen are all clean and with a certain charm. The tasty... More

The old monastery hostel is a really nice place to stay and located great to explor the connemara national park. The owner, steve, is a friendly and layed back guy who won't be around all the time, but can be reached on his phone if there are any questions. The interior looks really cool with it's antique and unique decoration.... More
