Stayed here for a weekend with my partner - found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was first class - but we could only manage two courses - just too much food!!! Relaxed atmosphere, close to Rossnowlagh. We got a taxi for 7 Euro to Smugglers Creek on Friday evening to see a live band. I... more

Have enjoyed Sunday lunch many times here last summer However our latest visit proved very disappointing. Food is now bland and served with synthetic tasting thick gravy nomatter what you have, has lost its homecooked quality. Hygiene and service also questionable, waitress cleaned up soup spoons with her thumb. Would not eat here again despite having regularly travelled more than... more

We stayed in the Heron's Cove Hotel at Creevy, midway between Ballyshannon and Donegal town, from 6th to 10th June. The hotel did not live up to the advance publicity, perhaps because the management has changed a couple of times since it won awards. The current manager, in post only since April, is still finding his feet. Nevertheless, the standard... more

Wrt to the previous review: the website of Heron's Cove mentioned the fact that they are closed during winter and would open half April, so we called ahead to check whether we could stay there in the 3rd week of April. Jim is the new owner of Heron's Cove and he says that from now on the hotel would stay... more

My wife and I had booked a two night stay here in November 2008, to commence 20-3-09 and received e-mail confirmation of our booking with a deposit debited. We arrived on Friday 20th at 4pm, the place looked quiet, very quiet ; it was in fact locked up and completely deserted, not what we expected ,especially after a three hour drive.... more

This was our second trip to Heron's cove and I meant to give a review after last time(during summer 07) as we were so impressed-enough to go back but it slipped my mind but our return trip was just as good. A small family run establishment and we were greeted on arrival at reception by one of the owners who... more

We only ended up here as we booked last minute for the traditional and folk music festival that is on over the Irish Bank Holiday. We wouldn't stay at Heron's cove again for that, purely because it was not within walking distance of the town centre. But for anyone wanting a comfortable, quiet stay, close the lovely beach of Rossnowlagh... more

While the web site made this place look worth that bit extra, the reality was something different. The bedroom cost 70 euro pps per night. I have stayed in nicer B&B rooms in Donegal for half the price. The restaurant was nice but the deal I booked was for 3 night B&B + two meals, They didn't say anything about... more
