This unique hotel is well worth a visit if you are travelling around Iceland and we really enjoyed our stay. The geothermal pool is located underneath the hotel and we were able to enjoy its warm embraces during the worst storm in 25 years. My only two gripes with the hotel stop it from getting 5*. When we arrived the... More

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night and we were both really looking forward to it. We drove from reykjavik to the hotel, the road conditions were not good and it is not a drive for the faint hearted. As it was snowing it took longer to arrive at our destination. I would definitely not recommend travelling to... More

What a pleasure it was after a long drive to finally arrive at the ION hotel. In the middle of lava fields, it was so remote and interesting. And, what a beautiful modern hotel inside. We loved the contemporary rooms and bathroom, and the food in the dining room was terrific. Plan a dinner there. Hotel breakfast buffet was also... More

We had a wonderful stay. The Hotel is very cool, the architecture is awesome. The Northern Lights bar is the coolest bar I've ever been to. The spa is very relaxing and the food was great. The staff was extremely helpful and polite.

I recently spent 3 days at the ION hotel in Iceland. I was travelling along and not driving. I should probably have booked activities before going. But had wanted to play it by ear. The hotel is spectacular, but it is right next to a power station, which you don't see in the advert and while it is clean and... More

We absolutely lobed our 3 nights at the Ion hotel. Room was very sleek and modern with a North facing view, minimalist design and feature wall of a white horse. Bathroom was clean and most importantly for the cold weather had a very strong warm shower. Spent many hours in the Northern Lights Bar enjoying some local Icelandic beers while... More

We booked the ION for 1 night during our honeymoon trip around Iceland. Although it was fairly pricey, we decided to book a Deluxe room so that we could have access to the pool. On arrival we found out that the pool was closed for renovations. They offered us free entrance to another spa that was 50km away, but we... More

We had read about Ion when it won an architectural award and decided to make it our last stop on our two-week trip around Iceland -- we figured it would be a great base for exploring the Golden Circle and western destinations, or a fine place to veg in the lounge if we were exhausted. During our 4-night stay, we... More

I took my husband here for his 50th birthday with a small group -- a surprise trip to Iceland and what an amazing accommodation. When visiting Iceland, a rental car is a "must" and nothing could have prepared us for the breathtaking drive to the Ion Luxury hotel. Driving from the airport in Keflavik, around the outskirts of central Reykjavik... More

Nestled in the steamy geo-thermal hills of Thingvellir National Park, surrounded by the magical moss covered lava, is this wonderfully balanced Ion Hotel. Had an eventful weekend stay where we unexpectedly enjoyed the Iceland Airwaves off venue artists. Many talented and promising artists appeared and pleasantly added to our very good stay this weekend. Food was great (especially the Icelandic... More
