Had high hopes for this one. Video on the website looks so good. But was underwhelmed. The service was almost non-existent. The staff seemed always too busy doing nothing to bother looking after the guests. The "hot tub" was more like a tepid bath and sadly one of the main reasons to book here after a dive in the Silfra... More

Billed as Luxury Adventure, it is to note that you need to add on the adventure as services, if you desire them. The luxury should be thought of as remote national park rugged luxury, with European sensibilities in room sizes and design. The dining is exceptional but the seasonal and rarely changing menu might challenge some, but if you look... More

Great hotel. Really interesting location. The food it pretty good and reasonable considering it's a captive market. Sadly the sauna wasn't working when we stayed and there was a bit of a wait to get into our room but otherwise the facilities were great.

ION get mixed reviews and I think the name confuses people. It's not luxury but it is definitely boutique. It's certainly an adventure getting there. We arrived early and they agreed to help us check in as soon as they could. We had a drink in the bar and our room cards were delivered to us and our bags were... More

The Ion hotel certainly has a wonderful feel and the location is second to none. The views are amazing and the bar and the hot tub are quite spectacular. Unfortunately, as their own visitor book suggests, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Having asked reception to give us a wake up call if the northern lights were visible... More

Overall a nice hotel, but at times slightly expensive for what it is. The staff were lovely - very friendly, helpful and attentive. We stayed in both standard and deluxe rooms. Standard was disappointing: a stylish but small room, with small bathroom without bath. The TV screen was tiny. The deluxe room was much nicer and bigger. The restaurant is... More

The ION adventure hotel is like something out of a James Bond film... as you sit in the hot pool/spa area, or look out from the Northern lights bar (incredible by the way...more on that later), you feel like you could be your very own James Bond villain in his lair built into the mountainside. Driving to ION is an... More

We arranged a private driver to get us to the hotel, which I stongly advise if you can afford it as the hotel is remote. We loved every minute of our stay. The room was lovely, hotel staff were friendly. The hotel offers a wake up call when the lights appear, which in our case they did. The food was... More

Pros: 1. An isolated hotel that is really nice and good for aurora borealis experience 2. Staff are very friendly 3. Breakfast is great! 4. Very comfortable bed 5. Isolation means very nice scenery around Cons: 1. If not for the aurors borealis, I dont know what else can be done since its an isolated hotel 2. Try to get... More

The location of this hotel is simply amazing - remote and off the beating track to be sure! Outside hot pool (more than tub) is a must! Not for honeymooners due to the transient nature of large parties of corporate visitors..
