Lovely luxury hotel, nice spa, beautiful bar. Friendly staff. Dinner, decent quality food. Ate excellent cod, vanilla citron sause with mashed potatoes. Nice selection of wines by glass and bottles Rooms, relatively small with minimalist but nice design. Bathroom small. Breakfast, superb large selection of warm and cold food. Egs, bacon, salmon, fruits, fresh juices, cheese, ham, yochurt. Selection of... More

This is a nicely designed hotel in a somewhat remote location near Thingvellir National Park. The rooms are a bit small and minimalist. If you choose to enjoy the outdoor hot springs, be careful about getting in as the bottom of the pool is very slippery with algae. In addition, there may be some black particles floating in the water... More

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in the Hotel Ion. We had high hopes, because the hotel rates itself very highly, supported by some glowing press reports. I wish I had read some of the reports on Tripadvisor before booking, as I think these are nearer the truth. First, the good points; 1. Location - beautiful landscape,... More

The hotel is in a fabulous location but will need to work hard to keep its rating. The rooms are super with great views and the bedding is fantastic. Bathroom is cool too! Dinner was fantastic, as was lunch but breakfast was terrible I am afraid. The waiter in charge was completely overwhelmed and I felt very sorry for him.... More

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I generally think that a lot of what has been written here already is quote accurate. First the positives -- the location is very nice and feels remote (even though it's only about 35 minute drive from Reykjavik). The hiking around the hotel is amazing and really fun. It feels like you are... More

I had such high hopes for this property as I've seen it covered in so many magazines and their website is so appealing. So for my last night in Iceland, I paid for a $150 one-way transfer to the hotel. My room was not ready upon my arrival which was not a big deal. I settled in for some brunch,... More

This was a very comfortable hotel with a few nice touches - fluffy bathrobes and slippers and a fancy coffee maker. The shower room was very nice, if extremely small. Beautiful views, especially from the lovely glass bar area, cantilevered over the valley. Good location as a stepping off point for the Golden Circle. The evening meal was good but... More

We visited here for a husband and wife getaway. It is isolated, but that gives you a real feel for sparsely populated Iceland. From our floor to ceiling room window we can gaze at sheep grazing and at the green nubby landscape. The room is small by American standards but because there are plenty of quiet places to lounge we... More

Dined here during our 9 night stay in Iceland and only issue was the price, but then that is an issue no matter where you go in the country. Lovely service, good selection on menu, well worth the visit and glad we stayed on the road in the middle of nowhere to find the hotel. Of all the meals we... More

The room ambience is really fantastic with amazing landscape infront of you. Once in a while, you may see sheep grazing. The view is also stunning at Northern Light Bar. Food served in the restaurant is very expensive but there is quality in the food. The chef will also come out to ask for your opinion. There is free wifi... More
