If you are thinking to use this hotel as a base for your adventure travelling you will likely be very disappointed. First off there is no concierge, no activity desk nor any person designated to oversee activity requests. Information is provided by the staff at reception who do not appear to have any understanding of what is offered by the... More

I just spent two nights at the Ion and had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I agree that the term "luxury" doesn't really apply here, it's modern but not what I would call a luxury experience. However, the staff was friendly, the food in the restaurant was excellent, I'd recommend the langoustines or baked plaice, both were delicious. The desserts... More

The staff was exceedingly kind and solicitous, and I cannot say enough good about them and their efforts to make our stay more comfortable. There was one major flaw the owners must address and one thing people should know before they book. The first is that the room we stayed in had black mold all along the inside of the... More

Its all about expectations, the term Luxury and the fact that it was featured in the Amex centurion card monthly news letter built the expectation up. The plan was to travel around iceland and stay in average hotels and as a final treat stay here. So was very disappointed if they took the term luxury out of the name then... More

Location is great, though be aware there's a thermal plant right behind it that cuts into the natural beauty of the scene. Hotel could be great but so much is wrong.. Staff, except Katrin who is great, are nice but utterly clueless & give incorrect information. Rooms are nice but lack counter space, hanging space, drying bars in the bathroom... More

The location is great with beautiful landscapes the design of the hotel is very nice . It could be a very good hotel but the management is not so good. There are not a variety of choices in the menu and there aren't restaurants around so you have to eat there.

We went to this hotel on the end of our trip to Iceland and it was a welcome change from the other hotels we had so far. I was surprised to see the geothermal plant pretty near to it as you never see it on the photos in the hotel's website. The rooms (standard room) were very nice, I loved... More

I loved this hotel, but if something is truly "luxurious" (which this is) there's no need to use the work "luxury" in the name. The design is modern, elegant, chic, stylish, and comfortable. The outdoor hot pool is very nice, again--cool, modern and elegant, but lacking personality. Ask for a room with a Lake View, but the view of the... More

The Ion Hotel was quite disappointing. Agree that the design is quite amazing but we were surprised to see the geothermal energy site next to the hotel. Pretty much half of their rooms have view on the energy facility. The service was very bad and the restaurant very unpleasant. I do not mean to be difficult but we had breakfast... More

ION Luxury Adventure Hotel. So much for the luxury. Our room wasn't ready upon arrival, still dirty from the previous guests. When we complained to management, they were responsive and treated us to a "complimentary" drink at the bar to kill time as the room was being cleaned… but ended up charging us for the cocktails when we checked out…...
