This hotel is spectacular - amazing scenery and beautiful minimalist design makes it special. It's quite remote though so you would definitely need to hire a car from airport if you want to get out and check out incredibly beautiful places nearby. The quality of food was very good - langoustine was delicious but my friend said his lamb was... More

We stayed at Ion having been wowed by their website. It's certainly a unique place to stay and a stunning setting. The geothermal heated pool was wonderful. However I feel it's a tad overpriced for what it is. For the cost I would expect a more extravagant room and some more personal finishing touches.

Words can't describe the feeling of being at this hotel. The location is just magic if you enjoy the tranquility of snow fields and isolation. We were two female friends and we arrived late and were greeted by friendly hotel staff who offered us complimentary champagne. The magic of this hotel is it's location and the location if the Northern... More

We had an amazing stay (2 nights) where Jon from ION Adventure helped us in advance to plan and book different trips to the sights around the hotel. They helped us with booking of day trips with “Amazing Tours Iceland”. As well as our rental car at the Airport and arrangement at the Blue Lagoon. All in all a great... More

Let me start by saying that the property itself is lovely! The building blends right into the natural landscape.... which is very peaceful and idyllic. While it's is a gorgeous architectural design hotel (it photographs very well), it's definitely got a long way to go before becoming 5 star. The rooms are what I would call "bare chic". Not much... The Ion Hotel is a very unique hotel that blends into the landscape of Iceland. Part of hotel with standard rooms is in a renovated building. Get a deluxe room in the new section with floor to ceiling Windows. Room sparse but architecturally very pleasing. The Hotel is very quiet with soundproof rooms , soft lighting, comfortable beds ,4 pillows... More

My family and I travelled to Iceland for 12 Days and this was the third hotel we stayed at. The hotel is in a remote location, which made it more charming. The feeling of being in the middle of nowhere was adventurous and the likelihood was high to see the Northern Lights! The hotel's design was great, especially the Northern... More

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the ion but something was lacking. We took a wonderful ~8 hike around the valley the hotel is in on our first day, but for the price the hotel it self was not as nice as I had anticipated. Additionally the pool was not very warm, which was a big deal breaker for... More

This was probably my favorite hotel in Iceland. It is located in the middle of nowhere, but this also gives you a better chance to see the Northern lights. The hotel is very cool looking and pretty modern. The rooms are not huge but they are clean. The hotel has a cool bar area, called the northern lights bar There... More

We stayed at the hotel ion as part of a 5 day New Year tour of Iceland. The place is in the middle of nowhere which would have been good for the Northern Lights, if it was not snowing, which it did for 2 days solid. Food was ok. accommodation was ok, Beer was reasonable price for Iceland. You would... More
