I stayed at Ion Hotel from 5th - 8th January 2015. We were a party of six and stayed in Rooms 103, 104 and 106. Let me start with the positive attributes of this hotel: 1. We were initially due to arrive at the hotel on the 4th of January. However, due to bad weather and impossible road conditions, the... More

I have to say all in all we had a good stay, but I think I would have rather stayed in a hotel in Vik for half the price. Maybe it was the weather (cloudy so no northern lights) but there was nothing to do - so much for "Adventure" hotel. I spent 20 minutes at the front desk trying... More

We had a great 2 nights at the ION - in a deluxe room. On our first day, we arrived in late afternoon and it had been snowing. It was beautiful outside, very cozy inside and the room was great (good size, nice bathroom). Really the only option for food (especially in snow) is the restaurant on site. Luckily the... More

There were times we didn't think the weather would allow us to reach this destination, but it was all worth it. Simple, well-designed rooms, with good heating out of the minus six degree blast outside. Attentive staff with waiters who know their way around a wine list. Superbly presented food, flavoursome beef, brilliant salmon and roes, with even the cheese... More

I can not express enough what a wonderful time we had while visiting in November. I had wanted to see the northern lights since I saw Balto in 1995. My boyfriend of a decade used that to his advantage and booked a surprise 2 week trip to Iceland. We stayed here for a couple nights and he proposed to me... More

ION luxury is a good hotel, and we had no problems with customer service at all. It had very clean rooms and really nice lounge area and restaurants. The only thing to be aware is that it is in the middle of nowhere, and there is nothing else around to do so you are pretty much restricted to the food... More

This hotel is approx 45 min drive from Reykjavik but you'll feel light years away. The landscape surrounding the hotel is surreal....and stunning. Quick drive and you're in Thingvellir National Park - a must do! Rooms were funky, clean and comfortable. We spent hours lounging in the outdoor pool while snow fell all around us. The Northern Lights bar is... More

It's really a shame, the place is beautiful, the infrastructure is great. But the service is just awful, dirty sheets, rude waiters, a bar without anyone to attend to, no smiles, no room service. They really should learn some hospitality basics before opening a hotel.

This is a review for our bookings at the Ion "luxury" hotel that were cancelled by the hotel at the last minute by the hotel, leaving us in the lurch. We had made our reservations months ahead but were told at the last minute via a surprise email from the hotel, curtly informing us that "due to overbooking we are... More

This review is for the bar area - we stopped by the hotel because I had seen ads for it and thought it could be beautiful to see in and of itself, even if staying there was a bit out of my price range. We stopped for a coffee on our way back to Reykjavik from the South Coast, and... More
