We spent a week at this hotel in room 209 and while we enjoyed our trip the experience was inconsistent. The location is very unique with the hotel set on rocks that would make any Sci-fi fan feel right at home. To the one side you have a lovely horizon, but on the other a geo thermal plant. It's not... We spent 2 nights at the hotel, located in the middle of nowhere - we loved it! We booked a superior room for additional comfort and enjoyed it. The food served both for breakfast and for dinner was of very high quality and the staff was very friendly. We had booked a massage, which (while being on the expensive side)... More

We spent one night in Ion Hotel. The landscape surrounding the hotel is astonishing (for the fans that's where Game of Thrones Seasons 1 and 2 have been shot), the hotel is well integrated, the bar is great, the rooms are confortable, the hot tub (although small) in the spa allows a nice break. The staff was very helpful to... More

My reive is in alignment with most others thus far- the rooms are small there is little service/guidance on activities in the area and yet again another Iceland hotel that just does not understand customer service. The usual terse unsmiling interactions prevailed - I'm used to it after so many visits to Iceland so this wasn't much of an issue... More

great location, modern design, great for couples on the move, cool outdoor pool…and the staff…although helpful and mean well, many of them are no more than 25 years old and completely clueless about what it means to work in a 'luxury hotel' ..the physical hotel and the staff do not sync….you have many very sophisticated travelers with discerning tastes arriving... I had the oddest "welcome" to this otherwise elegantly designed experience. My friend and I arrived at the hotel about 5:30pm after a long day of driving, having made reservations weeks before. There was only one person at the reception desk, a young woman with dark hair, who was on the telephone with a potential client discussing possible tours and... More

I'm nearly speechless. Hair on the bed that's not mine, view of a power plant, no bellman to assist with luggage... Clearly "luxury" is an English word these people aren't familiar with. We'd be better off in a hostel. I'm happy to pay for a nice hotel but save your money or light it on fire here.

We started our 10 day honeymoon in Iceland with a 3-day stay at Ion. The hotel was fantastic, delicious food and stunning surroundings. The hikes were very rewarding, especially since we didnt really know what to expect. We just went out and walked for hours, and in the process stumbled upon steaming rivers, mud-puts and lots of geo-thermical activity just... More

This is a wonderful hotel, very modern and well staffed. Facilities and restaurant were top notch. It is like a space module in an alien world...treeless landscape, steam rising all around, sheep grazing quietly in front of a field of mossy rocks and lake. The bar is highly recommended for a peaceful drink.

We had a very pleasant stay that is very memorable. Explored various parts of Iceland from this hotel as our base. Enjoyed the hot thermal spa in the basement of the hotel. The rooms are very modern send nice. Only one challenge is if at night you need to visit the loo, the light comes through into the bedroom. Otherwise... More
