I did read some of the negative reviews for balance and found my experience did not match theirs. We were all most impressed by the ION and very happy with our stay. We had an excellent room (deluxe) with no faults, comfy beds and a good bathroom. All the staff were attentive, friendly and requests were quickly dealt with. The... More

An unexpected haven of luxury and superb service in the wilderness that is inland Iceland. Excellent service, superlative food, a wonderful wine list..... Views to die for, and walks you can only dream of..... Hills, mountains, streams, lakes, flat terrain...... It's all here, not to mention the steaming brooks!!! Empty roads, lovely, lovely people...... We'll be back!!! Full marks to... More

We had the most amazing trip to Iceland for my 50th Birthday, Hotel ION is in the most fabulous location just on the edge of Iceland's Golden Circle. The staff at the Hotel were so helpful and would help in any way they could, even left me a little Icelandic Birthday Treat Plate in our room.

To say that the Ion is "out of the way" is a serious understatement. There is nothing there except the steam plant and the near town, Selfoss, is at least a half an hour away by car. That said if you want to see the Northern Lights this is the place. We stayed there only 3 nights and saw them... More

This hotel seems to have quite a few mixed reviews. It is certainly a little rough around the edges and not everything is perfect but on the whole we really enjoyed our stay. Everyone seems to complain about the ugly power plant but we actually felt that it added to the environment in a strange way. The Rooms - on... More

The room was clean and a good size. The wall art was beautiful but I understand it differs between rooms. Although the room was nice, the best part was the spa. A huge natural hot tub and no chlorine. Larger than your average swimming pool though not as deep. Very relaxing with large change room, a sauna and a relaxation... More

We stayed at the Ion recently as part of our Honeymoon and were very much looking forward to the luxury spa hotel following a few hectic days in Reykjavic. We were met with a fairly indifferent greeting at reception; a feeling that was sadly representative of our stay thee. The design of the hotel is undoubtedly striking, as is the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our 5 day trip to Iceland. What a place! The location was incredible, the food and service were exceptional and the rooms were perfect. The stunning Northern Lights Bar with it's wall to floor windows was wonderful in the evening with the soft lighting and comfy sofas allowing you to relax... More

Pricey, but that's Iceland! Great romantic break at the ION Luxury Adventure hotel, the view from room was unbeatable and unique, so special to see the sun rising at 3 in the morning (April/Spring time). Loved the hotpot outside.Great memories. Would love to come back in winter and catch the Northern Lights.

We stayed at the Ion for our Honeymoon, as it seemed like a great launching pad into Thingvellir park and most of the Golden Circle. The Ion was kind enough to put together a honeymoon package for us that consisted of champagne and dessert upon arrival and 3 course dinners while we were staying there. The Silfa Restaurant was exquisite,... More
