Stayed for one night late August. I apperantly had the nerve to show up at the hotel one hour and fifteen minutes to early for check in. I was told that rooms wasent available until 2 o clock AND THAT GOES FOR ALL!! I have never been received like that before. Its fair enough that the they need to clean... More

We were staying in this hotel because our prievously booked hotel was overbooken. Anaway...the hotel is in good location. Across the street, there is a great restaurant called Tryggvaskali. The food is awesome. Also there is this place that sells ice cream and milk shakes, awesome as well. The hotel is AVERAGE.The staff is nice, breakfast was fine, rooms nothing extra. For the... More

Staff is very well prepared to give rich tourist info and advise, e.g. on best practices and routes; friendly; friendly, welcoming and helpful staff; hotel amenities have everything you need for this kind of holiday, convenient, quiet, clean; the hotel has really good location wrt the landmarks around; one big minus for which the hotel can easily make up: our... The Selfoss is a large, modern, hotel with the feel of an American commercial hotel like a Westin or a Sheraton. The hotel caters to bus/coach tours. In the morning most of the hotel guests arrive at the breakfast room at the same time in order to maintain their schedule. The rooms open off of long interior corridors. Standard rooms... More

It was our first hotel in Iceland and since we landed really early in the morning I really appreciated that they had our room ready by 9:30am and let us have breakfast (for free) right after check-in. We had a family room that was spacious enough for 2 adults and 3 kids. The big problem, though was the noise at... More

We had stayed at a guest house in Selfoss our first night in Iceland and didn´t expect to come back to this town after our adventure along the south coast. But when we arrived in the evening, Hotel Selfoss was the accommodation that had an opening for us. According to the reception, we took the last room. The room was... More

This hotel had the largest room I had in my entire trip. I was lucky to have gotten a room on the river side: great views and you hear the river running all night long (which I like)! Bathroom was a bit plastic/80s but the rest of the room was great. Best wifi quality I had in Iceland! Restaurant is... More

Hi taqqie, Thank you for taking your time to review Hotel Selfoss. I am glad you liked your room and the hotel in general. We serve breakfast from 7 - 10 in the morning and expect our 10 o'clock guest to have the same variety as those that need to have their breakfast earlier. I thank your for that point... More

Stayed here for two nights as part of a Golden Circle tour. The weather was poor and our standard room had a view of the rain tumbling down on the car park. The room safe was faulty and after repeated efforts to fix it, management gave up. Annoyingly it still beeped every fifteen minutes throughout the night. To escape our... More

Hi Gary M, Thank you for taking your time to review Hotel Selfoss. Not that it helps you now but the safe is fixed, we needed a help from the manufacture company. Our only (minor) complaints for this hotel were 1) don't try and be courteous and hold the glass elevator doors open with your hand to delay the doors closing - they close anyway - Hubby got a serious finger nip. 2) breakfast is not served until 7:00 (and a lot of it isn't set out until 7:15 or later) so... This might be the best hotel in Selfoss. For sure it is the best located. There are numerous small restaurants around, and some fast food places like Domino’s Pizza and Subway. A block away, past the round-about is a large supermarket. The hotel building also has a tourist office, a gift shop and a beauty salon. I had room 220... More
