My husband and I stayed here a couple weeks ago, and I got bed bug bites all over me. So many that it made me ill. My neck was sore for two days before I woke up with itching areas/bumps and realized what it was. Sometimes they don't show for a while, but I know that's where I got them... More

To Ibs97 I am truly sorry to hear about your experience in Iceland. I hope you have recovered and are feeling fine by now. Regarding your bug bites we got specialist to clean the room you stayed in but they found no trace of bugs in the room. Still the room received a full cleaning treatment. According to a doctor... We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. We found the staff friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean. The food is overpriced but most places are in Iceland. We would stop here again.

Excellent base for exploring, good breakfast and evening meals were excellent if a bit expensive. There were, however, two "specials" menus which were considerably cheaper than the a la carte menu. Great place for Aurora spotting, we were lucky and got a days clear window and saw the lights. Outside the hotel looks a bit like an industrial unit which... More

Stayed for 2 nights during a 4 day tour. Large hotel with good facilities e.g. spa, tea/ coffee in room, excellent (quite expensive) restaurant. Spacious warm bedroom. We had problems with the hairdryer and safe - but both were promptly rectified. Comfy bed/ pillows. All areas seen around the hotel were very clean. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Unfortunately we... More

Hi DaveF, Thank you for your kind review. You are right that Selfoss has a lot to offer. As you mentioned there are some nice restaurants within a walking distance from the hotel. There are also several museums in Selfoss f.ex. the Bobby Fisher museum, a tribute to the former world champion in chess. There are also quite a few... More

We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour. Was surprised how large the rooms were, they have everything you need. We had a view of the car park so ask for a room with a view of the mountains. We asked for more pillows and they brought them up straight away. Hotel is surrounded by good restaurants,... More

We really enjoyed our visit to The Hotel Selfoss. The staff were friendly and helpful (kindly offering to give us a call to alert us to northern lights activity) and the hotel itself was well presented and in a good location for the south coast. The relatively simple exterior of the hotel is deceiving as the interior is well planned... More

So this is not the most architecturally stunning hotel to have graced Iceland. However it is comfortable and has great views across the river from most rooms. It does feel very much like a business hotel but the rooms are and beds are really comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.

As you turn off the roundabout by the hotel you are faced with a rather stark concrete and glass building housing a Domino pizza joint. Don't be put off by this - the hotel part is just behind this (though still a bit stark in design). We had two nights here in an excellent warm and spacious room with a... More

Hi John Thank you for your kind review. As they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Although the building is not the prettiest on the outside we try and make up for it at the inside. It is good that you did not get put off by the ladies choir, I am sure that they tried their... More

We stayed here early feb as part of a tour, for 2 nights. A lovely hotel with a fantastic restaurant - we ate there both nights and the food and service were both brilliant. Room was comfortable and spacious although bathroom was a little dated. Great view over the river and mountains. Wifi worked well in the room but not... More

The hotel has a lovely clean feel to it, simple decor, cosy and warm. The restaurant is a little pricey so we didn't eat there. A good selection of information about the local area on the desk. Quick and easy check in. Big room with good facilities, very warm. Absolutely heavenly comfortable beds, I've never slept so well! Great breakfast... More
