Located next to the Ringroad, it is a useful place for a nightover. The guesthouse itself is nice decorated, rooms are very small and simple furnished and the shared bathrooms aren't that clean as they supposed to be. Actually they were pretty dirty - but that might be the fault of the other guests as well. Breakfast is very delicious... More

We stayed here on our first night of driving the ring road. It was excellent, well located, easy to find, warm and comfortable. We had the family room which had a lovely view, good wifi signal and we all slept soundly. Everything is spotlessly clean including the shared bathrooms. We enjoyed the interaction with our hosts and other guests and... More

A very nice property, used to be a prison. Conveniently located near Selfoss. Several mountains/glaciers in sight in good weather. We just love the dining room and the breakfast -- especially the herring fish. The only downside is that the wifi signal is quite weak at the second floor.

A beautiful house in a very beautiful location. Our hosts were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic and lots of food available. Located just off Route 1, easy to find. Amazing views of Mount Hekla and some superb falls near by.

Everyone should stay there for breakfast itself. Amazing - herrings, homemade bread, jams and pastries. The rooms and facilities don't disappoint,.place is very clean. Service very friendly. Good value for money. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely stay at Guesthouse Bitra. The guesthouse is primely located on highway 1, which is perfectly located for South-West Iceland's activities. From there, you can drive east to the various waterfalls and glaciers or drive west to geothermal activities and hiking in Hveragerdi or a bit further to Rekjavik. The guesthouse itself is lovely and you will... More

We stayed here on the second week of September which would be considered off season. There was only one other guest. This a great place to stay if you are driving the Ring road. It's near Selfoss but otherwise completely isolated. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. There are 2 shared bathrooms which are well maintained. As the other... More

The guesthouse is situated 13 kilometers east of Selfoss, just by the Ring Road. If you have a car, it's a good base to spend a couple of day exploring the area known as the Golden Triangle before continuing further east. Without a car... well, there's practically nothing in the near vicinity of the guesthouse. The staff was really friendly... More

We only stayed for 1 night and for that it was a good experience. Modern, clean, simple and small rooms. Beds were very comfortable and it was peacefull; we had a good night sleep. The room included breakfast which was normal basic guesthouse breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Pros: convenient location near the #1 road, decent breakfast, friendly manager, simple but tasteful room design (if you're generally ready to accept 100 Euro per night price for a room with shared bathroom). The most significant problem of this place is the owner. Unfortunately, this lady had never been told that her role is not to make guests obey the... More
