I booked a large loft room via my companies preferred agent (Expedia), however nobody bothered to check the reservations that day so they sold the room to somebody else. Staff were very apologetic when we arrived and showed us two alternative rooms, but they looked horrible! Old woodchip wallpaper, old carpet, horrible view and really basic, falling-to-bits furniture. I don't... More

Great hotel in the middle of nowhere with great views towards Mt Hekla. Rooms on second floor have good views. Rooms are fine, restaurant area is great and breakfasts are very good with superb fresh bread. We had two evening meals - the food was excellent but the choice of three dishes was the same two nights in a row.... More

This is a lovely hotel in a lovely rural location. We stayed in a newly renovated , very modern room, with a bathroom to die for. The room (for 3) was split into 2 separate areas, which gave us all privacy. Breakfast was excellent, although we found that food was running out and not replenished when we went to breakfast... This was a lovely place in the middle of the farming region of Iceland. I didn't find it out of date, at least for a rural location. instead the welcome was friendly and the breakfast excellent. Dinner was well cooked although not cheap: it would have been nice if more of the food had been traditional flavours though. Only downside... More

Hotel Hekla is a perfect place to stay of you want to have a magic morning view with the landscape around and hekla volcano. The rooms are quite nice and comfortable and I did love the TV station idea, they just put up the tv on the middle of the wall so you can turn to the entrance seats or... More

This was the 2nd hotel we stayed in on our 17 night trip round Iceland. It was OK but not brilliant. The room was adequate for a night. The dinner was good enough but expensive. Breakfast was included & the usual kbuffet with fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, cold meat, cheese & assorted breads & crispbreads. Reception was efficient but... More

Hotel Hekla was one of our many one-night stops while doing the "ring road" in Iceland. The room was clean, the food was good. I enjoyed the decor in the restaurant...very relaxing. We called ahead but got to the hotel very late. They were very nice when we arrived. We took advantage of the hot tub at 11:30pm after arrival...after we... More

We were there in the winter and our room was nice and cozy with comfy beds. Shower was a bit awkward and got the entire floor wet though. We had a room at teh very end of the hall that had a deck right outside. It was a bit cloudy, so we didn;t get to see the northrn lights, but... More
