Stayed here after 4 nights at the Ranga, and it was certainly different. A little unusual to have to follow the receptionist in our car to our room especially with so much snow and ice on the roads. There was a mix up with our room as a coach party were due in, but after trying 2 standard rooms which... More

Possibly Iceland style however to have a central point where the reception and restaurant area were and then to have the bedrooms in 'lodges' a short distance away seemed a little strange. However the rooms were very spacious and clean with a nice arrangement of having a number of accessible hot tubs outside the entrance to the hotel bedrooms. It... More

Very nice hotel in a rural location about 15K from Selfoss. Great viiews, quiet rooms. Rooms are average size for European hotels and very comfortable. Very good restaurant on premises with buffet breakfast, buffet dinner in the summer and a la carte in the off-season. Friendly staff who are very fluent in English and didn't get impatient even when we... More

Initially we planned to stay at the Ion Resort, supposedly the best hotel in all of Iceland, that is if you believe the reviews. The Ion hotel is just a couple of miles down the road of the Grimsborgir, but although we made reservations through booking.com the hotel contacted us telling us they made a mistake and there was no... Didn't know what to expect and found a gorgeous hotel, friendly staff and a fabulous comfortable room. Both breakfast and dinner were wonderful. Sadly, we had a storm so we were unable to see the night sky but this would have been perfect as nothing is around the hotel and I'm sure the view would have been spectacular. Only negative... More

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter as a treat. This isn't a budget option but well worth it. Superbly appointed house that is beautifully decorated. Our private hot tub had views if the mountains. Staff in the main hotel were friend and efficient and the breakfast buffet was very good each day, simple but presented well and very well... More

The staff at the Grimsborgir were wonderful. The food was great at the restaurant too. The champagne breakfast was included and it was plentiful, it had a nice selection of foods, both American and European style (can we say bacon and pickled herring in the same sentence?) We were disappointed to find that what looked like private hot tubs on... More

What a great place to see the lights - dark away from the city. The salmon dinner was deicious. Started with mushroom soup. The buffet breakfast is very nice and well supplied. The rooms are spacious, clean and bright. There is a short walk from the room to the dining area.

We were greeted warmly by the General Manager, Maria & immediately shown to (we followed her in our car) to our own "villa" (#1)~~IT WAS AMAZING! She upgraded us to a 4 BR when we only requested 2! Beautiful kitchen, dining room with table set for 8, big living room, TV room, nice big bathroom and a variety of sizes... More

Very friendly helpful staff. Studio accommodation very comfortable. Food in restaurant excellent. Studio apartments very comfortable. we were upgraded for three nights as a couple - but it could sleep 6 with two large bedrooms and a double bed tucked away in the large lounge area. Probably a bit over-priced for a couple. It also has its own outside hot... More
