I enjoyed staying here (1 night as part of a south coast driving tour). Christine at the front desk was very helpful! Room was clean, quiet, comfortable. I wish there had been some walking trails, lots of birds down by the water, could hear them, but couldn't get down there! Breakfast was very nice.

This hotel, at the southern end of the Golden Circle, was an absolute surprise. It is relatively new and well maintained with free WiFi. The room was large with a bath and great water pressure with plenty of hot water. Each block of units had access to a four hot tubs. Spectacular views from the room. Every single member of... More

Set in a bleak but fascinating landscape the Grimsborgir was a warm bright sanctuary from the very high winds at the time of our stay. Our bungalow accommodation (and the others) was set a few hundred yards drive from the main building. The four bedroomed deluxe property had acres of space and was presented beautifully. Clean, tidy, very well furnished... More

I spent 9 nights at the Grimsborgir Hotel and I would definitely stay at the same hotel if I ever was to return to Iceland. It is a perfect base for any tour in and to Reykjavik, the Peninsula and the Golden Triangle. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The owner and manager were very attentive and welcoming. Rooms... More

We have been to many hotels in Iceland. Grímsborgir was amazing, we did not expect much. But WOW this hotel is so homey and the service top of the line. This post would be to long if I would start talking about the nature, in short 100% Thank you for a great stay

We flew in early and went to Blue Lagoon, then took the Southern route to the hotel, knowing we would use it as a base for exploring for the time we were there. We were about a 40 minute drive from the excellent Laugarvatn Fontana Hot Springs, and 25 minutes from Þingvellir National Park. We were upgraded from a studio... More

Stayed here after 4 nights at the Ranga, and it was certainly different. A little unusual to have to follow the receptionist in our car to our room especially with so much snow and ice on the roads. There was a mix up with our room as a coach party were due in, but after trying 2 standard rooms which... More

Possibly Iceland style however to have a central point where the reception and restaurant area were and then to have the bedrooms in 'lodges' a short distance away seemed a little strange. However the rooms were very spacious and clean with a nice arrangement of having a number of accessible hot tubs outside the entrance to the hotel bedrooms. It... More

Very nice hotel in a rural location about 15K from Selfoss. Great viiews, quiet rooms. Rooms are average size for European hotels and very comfortable. Very good restaurant on premises with buffet breakfast, buffet dinner in the summer and a la carte in the off-season. Friendly staff who are very fluent in English and didn't get impatient even when we... More

Initially we planned to stay at the Ion Resort, supposedly the best hotel in all of Iceland, that is if you believe the reviews. The Ion hotel is just a couple of miles down the road of the Grimsborgir, but although we made reservations through booking.com the hotel contacted us telling us they made a mistake and there was no...
