Unlike a lot of people reviewing here, we do our homework before booking hotels and yes, we know it is a school dorm. All of the Edda Hotels are school dorms. They are also clean, reasonably priced and in good locations. This was our 3rd trip to Iceland and probably the 5th or 6th Edda that we have stayed at.... More

There are several Edda Hotels in Iceland, all based on the concept of using dormitory schools as hotels (guesthouses) in the summer period. This provides lodging in various places where there are not financial grounds for running a hotel all year around. In some cases there are fancier additions to the school dormitory offering more of a hotel experience. The... More

Travelling with Discover the World they fairly last minute advised we would not be staying at Hotel Geysir overnight, but here instead. As it was definitely a down-grade they gave us free access to the SPA just next door at no cost. The hotel overlooks the lake, is clean and OK, but as you may know, is used as a... More

The hotel isn't a hotel... It's a school turned in to a hotel over the summer. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was ok but we went to a local restaurant next to the hotel the second night and it was really good. So we would recomand going to another resaurant than the one located in the Hotel.

Did a full circle around Iceland in June -- this was my first stop from Reykjavik and I was not disappointed. It was early June and just opened so not croweded. it's a great place to stay that is situated after the National Park and a short ride from the Geysir and Gulfoss -- the spa/baths/hot springs next door are... We had wanted to stay at the Hotel Geysir but that was booked out four months ahead in July. I am glad we chanced on this one, via Trip Advisor. It is only a 20 minute drive from Geysir and has its own charm. Used during school terms as a university boarding centre, one would have expected more basic accommodation.... More

This is the fifth night in Hotel Edda, so it is free. The room, services are all good. Except the receptionist might misunderstand my words. We had to move all our luggage from one room to another room and later move back. All in all, will still recommend.

Well located hotel to be in the middle of the Golden Circle attractions. Unpleasent smell of the soup of the day in the foyer (broccolli one night, mushroom the next), smell did not extend to the bedrooms and there were great views from the rooms overlooking the lake.Smell was so offputting that we ate out both nights (loved the Lindin... We stayed in several Edda-hotels - this one was the best. Lovely position at the lake - good food, usual large Edda-breakfast. Ideal stay for one or two nights. Don't forget - if you stay five nights in Edda-hotels (there are several all around Iceland) the third night you get one breakfast for free and the fifth night is free... More

This hotel is excellent for the money, Our room had its own bath which is rare for an Edda hotel and the service was excellent. They were kind and helpful and all with in our budget. I would recommend Edda for anyone looking for a budget hotel that still manages to be clean and give great service. Getting your 5th... More
