This is a really lovely place to stay :) Room: The room was in a nice log cabin, with a great view, and excellent underfloor heating (We stayed in January). The room was very large, it had an en-suite bathroom, and the bed was very comfy. It also had free wi-fi. We just had to open the door to look... More

This is a lovely working farm. The cabins are simple- ( No TV- not a problem for me)- the showers are natural geothermal so have the distinctive sulphur smell. There is some noise from the next cabin. But the food is delicious and the family that run the outfit more than make up for anything not perfect- The farmhouse doesn't... More

We stopped in here on our way back from the Geysir. It was beautifully designed to view the dairy cows from behind the glass while we took a break from driving. Their ice cream was good but the fresh skyr was delicious. Definitely better than anything you get in the store! The woman working patiently answered my questions about how... More

Lovely rural location on a working farm. Cosy, warm cabins make great accommodation. The restaurant is uniquely joined to the cowshed. Sounds strange but is a lovely feature (and no you can't smell them!). Local produce served in the restaurant was good quality and tasty. Breakfast and wifi included.

We spent one night at the Farmhotel, part of a 12-day tour of Iceland. We were exhausted when we arrived but perked up with the room--a roomy, quiet and well-appointed cabin (i.e. it had a coffee pot, huge mugs etc.) to spend the night. Even better was the restaurant. Although an unexpected huge tour bus had just finished eating and... More

And with the cows to watch through the windows - definitely homemade and fresh products. Had some of the styr - a yogurty product and very tasty, open faced sandwiches of various sorts. All good. This is what I expected from a sampler lunch in Iceland, and they delivered! Restaurant only, did not look at hotel.

We stayed here in late March and had a great time. Location is good, we went to Geysir and Gullfoss before staying here and then leaving for South Iceland the next day. The restaurant attached to the hotel is wonderful. Best steak sandwich I've ever had. The bread was so good. The friendly staff gave us a few pointers on... More

I stayed here in March of 2014 and this hotel is amazing. What a wonderful place to stay. The beauty that surrounds this hotel is absolutely breath taking. The staff are so wonderful, the food was delicious and I found the perfect Icelandic sweater here! Home made ice-cream made from the milk from the cows on property. I would stay... More

The dining area and bar have recently been redone and with a little thought and character. You can see the cattle enjoying their silage through the restaurant windows which are juxtaposed with the cowshed! The food was great and service friendly and helpful. The rooms we stayed in were 'chalet type' and were nicely done. The only criticism is that... More

I've been to the Ice cream barn and café at Efsti-Dalur numerous times with my customers and it is always a big hit. The setting is perfect; cozy, yet modern and roomy and the windows into the cow-house make this a very different kind of café. Beyond belief, having the cattle only meters away it only smells of delicious newly... More
