Clean, fresh and bright premises. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is good, even when we were there in low season in winter. Poor internet in the rooms. Good starting point if you want to take day trips and come back and sleep well. The hotel has been checked 2013. So the three stars are almost on the... More

I spent 2 nights here earlier this month, and I overall enjoyed my stay. I found the hotel to be really very clean, and the staff was super friendly. The hotel was quiet too - at least I didn't notice anything when I was in my room. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious! Between my 2 night stay,... More

Spent a couple of nights here in March 2013 during a photography group tour. The food was good, if not exceptional and the help yourself breakfast buffet was extensive and plentiful. Some of the staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful, a few just didn't seem to care and were in fact quite rude. The rooms were clean and comfortable.... More

We only stayed here because we are passing the area for the night, limited choices of hotel there and very limited eating options. We drove around and only a supermarket was available which closed at 6pm. No other dining option available and we had to eat at the hotel which cost about 72,000 kr for two which is only two... More

We were just passing through and this hotel was a nice place to stop. The the rooms weren't spectacular, but they were clean and quiet which is what we needed. The bar, restaurant and staff we fantastic and that made us leave happy. I would definitely stay here again - as I was travelling with a friend, the room was... More

I spent awhile looking for a decent hotel in a location that would let us drive from Reykjavik through Southern Iceland in one day (while stopping to see the sights), drive to the Glacial Lagoon and Skaftafell and back the next day, and have enough time to make a late afternoon flight the third day. The location was perfect for... More

Icelandair Hotel Klaustur is bit of a disappointment. There is no "sole" at all in the hotel. Everything is very cold / sterile with no warmth or character. The food and service in the restaurant was actually quite good, but again, it lacked the final touch and although it was not a problem for me, I find it unacceptable that... More

A quiet 3 star hotel with friendly staff. However it is one of those rare hotels in Iceland that (as explained to me by the manager) doesn't sit on a geothermal water supply. Because the hot water comes from a heater tank, it can run out when demand is high (which we found out the hard way). So you might... More

We stayed for 1 night to go to Skaftafell National Park and Jökulsárlón Ice Lagoon the following day. The hotel was an ideal location for this but it had the feel of a big chain and therefore was not as nice as the more intimate, smaller hotels/guesthouses we stayed in; this was to be expected though. Everything was just what... More

Not like you have a lot of choices to choose from in the area. Expect no-frills from the rooms but the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Compliment to the chef. Service was good but the hotel has that institutional feel. Breakfast was a little below standard compared with the dinner. Power outages were a problem when I was there but... More
