The sun slowly fell out of view as our two-wheel drive car tumbled down the long and winding gravel road to Husey. As we arrived at the gate, birds were flying off and horses were gently trotting around the property. The staff was warm as they greeted us and showed us the guesthouse. The house itself is beautiful, and was... More

The hostel itself is really cozy, like going to your grandmother's house. The place is very remote so it's impossible to get there with public transportation. The owners can arrange you a ride from Egilsstadir, but for one person traveling alone it is quite expensive. The horse riding tour was quite cheap and nice even though the weather wasn't so... We had a very good communication for the reservation. I planned this horseriding trip to see the seal and for tried the icelandic horse. When we took the road to join the farm, I was already charmed by the site. After some minutes, on the road, we have the chance to see some seal and the landscape was fantastic. We... More

As we travelled around Iceland, we found ourselves in-between Lake Myvtan and the eastern fjords, and so decided to stay here for the night. At this time of year we were the only people staying there. It's decorated in a very ecclectic way, making it a quirky little stay for the night. You are literally in the middle of nowehere... More

During our two weeks travelling round Iceland, our one night here was the most memorable and the one that I am still raving about to anyone that wil listen. Yes, the gravel road to it is long, and you really need to stay here two nights to really appreciate it, but you need to book early. The location is stunning,... More

You will have to travel on gravel for a quite some time to reach this gracious place. This hostel is located in Husey where habitation is scarce except the farm and the visitors to the hostel. There is wi-fi (surprisingly) at the reception. The rooms are well appointed and warm. Hot water is available but water pressure is week. There... More

Imagine yourself driving on a road settled between two mountains, horses everywhere, your favorite song on the radio, riding towards the sea. 40 minutes of enchantment later, there's a gate, letting you know that you arrived in Husey, constisting in two houses and a barn. Immediately, you feel welcomed. Like stumbling on a oasis. A cat greets you, and you... More

We had a great time here. When we arrived at Husey the weather was pretty bad so we ended up getting the whole hostel to ourselves. A definite plus. The road out there is pretty long and in gravel but that's the price you pay to get to the end of the earth. Oh yeah, ride the horses, it's totally... More

26th May 2007: minus two centigrades a fierce wind blowing and it was starting to snow. This was our first impression of Husey after slowly travelling 30 km along a gravel road to reach it. Husey is a farm and we had planned having a horse riding tour there but were kinda worried. reassurance came from the young girl that... More
