We started our Icelandic holiday here, having got a connecting flight from Keflavik to Akureyri ( - driving time from airport to hotel was about an hour.) We spent 3 nights here, & in the end wished we'd had a bit longer, as there was so much to do in the area. We had a ground floor room, which initially... More

This hotel is perfectly acceptable and accommodating. Front desk staff is nice and friendly, rooms are clean albeit small. The Mannabar in the hotel is fine but not very well stocked. If you prefer a good local brew, head across the parking lot to the Gamli for the local beer, only served there. The breakfast in the morning was better... More

Nice hotel with good rooms. Not a five star but above average with clean rooms that were of a good size for the country. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was very good with the normal offerings. Restaurant was pricey so we went across the parking lot for dinner to Gamli.

Good, modern, bright, clean hotel. Excellent breakfast buffet. We had a room at the rear of the building in the corner - looked over the hill at the back. Big room - noticed it was larger than similar double rooms on the same corridor - room had a kettle - very useful for filling a flask. Had a meal there... More

When reading my icelandic reviews, some account must be taken of the general level of accommodation in more remote areas. This hotel is good. We were given a big room, but it faced another building at the back so we asked to be moved. The new room was smaller, but had views over the lake, so no problem. The bathroom... More

We stayed here two nights while we explored the Lake Myvatn area on our "ring road" Iceland tour. The room was nice enough, clean. The bathrooms in Iceland do baffle me though...very small and the shower controls are odd and there is nowhere to put any toiletries. The free buffet breakfasts were good. The restaurant area is very cafeteria-esque though...so... More

Wasn't expecting great things from this hotel as it is in a very touristy area but I was pleasantly surprised. Nice room with pleasant view, Wi-Fi and tea and coffee. Reasonably sized bathroom with good shower and counter space to put things. Wonderfully white linen and towels and very clean rooms.Excellent breakfast with good variety. Very pleasant staff who helped... More

We stayed three nights in a very nice room with a lake view. This is an older hotel so no refrig or safe, but not a but issue. The staff is very helpful and friendly. There is a nice bar and restaurant. The bar was very popular during World Cup matches. Only negative is a lack of elevators to get... More

We stayed here three nights as part of our Iceland road trip and were very happy with the hotel. We had a very nice and clean double-bed room with a lake-view. It offered everything you could expect, including a TV (which we never used) and free Wifi of course. Staff was very friendly and always at our service. The continental... More

Two memorable nights. Clean and welcoming, plenty of room with a good location for birding, mud pot excursions, visits to Godifoss Falls, or natural hot mineral spa time. Lounge, sunroom, free easy wi-fi, helpful staff and great food. Lake Myvatn does have midges in the summer. They don't bite, but do annoy you when you are outside lakeside. A headnet... More
