We normally choose hotels based on reviews, but in this case we were just driving around looking for a place to stay, and happened to pass by Hotel Reynihlid. The hotel looked decent, and they quoted us a good price so we decided to give it a go.
It turned out to be the best hotel we stayed in during...

The hotel is in a good location near the lake. The room was clean and comfortable, although nothing special. We had been expecting a chilly welcome, after reading our Lonely Planet guide, but the receptionist was friendly and gave us tips and information about the local area. The breakfast was fine.

The hotel is located on the north-east corner of the Myvatn lake, on the edge of the small town. We stayed here in the shoulder season (early September) and were offered a room including a dinner for a very fair price. We initially wanted to stay only one night, but were so pleased with the hotel that we prolonged our...

Spent 2 nights at the hotel while driving the ring road around Iceland. This was a very nice hotel. The rooms were large and well appointed. A very comfortable stay. The breakfast was very good and the front desk people were very pleasant and accomodating. We will definitely stay here again.

During a journey in Iceland, we experimented with hotels, guesthouses, holidays Farms and B&B (price ca. 150 EUR per room). For this price, Icelandic accommodations generally have all you want (private bath and toilet, soap, towel, good bedding (twin beds), warm eiderdown, heated rooms, buffet breakfast, …) but are often simple (few or no decoration) and small. If curtains were...

This was the right place for us for a three night stay. Very well-maintained hotel with comfortable lounge/bar, excellent restaurant, and outdoor seating if you want to enjoy a cigar at sunset. Location is ideal at north side of lake (angled views of lake) and situated right between attractions at Krafla and those around the lake itself. Nature Baths are...

We stayed at Hotel Reynihlid for one night and had a good stay. We were received in a very warm way. The rooms are modern, comfortable, large enough and clean but fairly basic. There were some problems with wifi during our stay as there were apparently not enough passwords, but in the end the staff helped us solve the problem....

We stayed for 4 nights at the Hotel Reynihlid in August 2011.
We booked a standard room and got one with a wooden floor -spacious, nice and tastefully furnished and clean. The bathroom was also clean. But: there was a lot of annoying technical noise around. First, there was an air-condition system blowing all day and night outside our room,...

Arrived quite late - it's a modern and attractive hotel and reception is always manned so no problems. Reception was friendly and helpful. Free wifi. Entertainment in the bar too but not audible in the rooms. Nice bathrobes were provided. Breakfast was good - continental and hot food for a nice change. The hotel had to rearrange our sleeping accommodation...
