Fans of living history will not find a better experience for staying in a 12th century chateau! The owner managers are a delight, and have managed to combine luxurius and modern amenities while preserving a completely authentic experience. This isn't a hotel, it's a castle!

21 of us have just spend the weekend in this amazing chateau. 1000 years of history with the main house still attached to the ruins of the original fortified castle. We were welcomed by the owners who are the direct descendants of the original owner, so the castle has been in one family for its entire history. In daily use... More

Second time i visit this castle in winter. Possible to make some fire in the room...it was so nice. The owner explains how he get his castle during the breakfast. He's good to give us some advice for restaurants not far from. It's a good place to be for à week-end....

15 of us stayed here for a week 9 adults and 6 kids Absolutely faultless in every way The downstairs apartment was totally accessible with a large wet room and a small kitchenette The main kitchen had everything we needed for our stay and all rooms were sufficient to house 4 families/couples Our hosts were helpful if somewhat aloof which... Set in a history-rich countryside within easy reach of the unspoilt Atlantic coast, the estate is owned and run by a charming couple. Passionate about history, Viscount Patrice Vignial will bring alive the 900 years of history of his castle. Viscountess Erika will treat you to a delightful cuisine if you choose la Table d'Hôte. A very welcoming family home,... More

We stayed a week at the Chateau so we could really experience the Loire Valley from a unique perspective. I had always wanted to stay at a Chateau and our visit met and even exceeded all my expectations,. Our hosts, Patrice and Erica, could not have been more welcoming... from giving us a choice of rooms to stay to providing... More

My stay at Chateau de la Flocelliere was a dream come true. When I saw the photo of the medieval bedroom i knew I had to stay there, however hard it was to get there. I managed it by train and then bus and was immediately transported to Paradise. My hosts Vicomte Patrice and Vicomtesse Erica were the most amazing... More

I came to this castle with a group of Americans who wanted to practice their French and we had a fantastic time there because we were greeted very nicely by the owners. Vicomte Patrice Vignial gave us a tour of his castle which has a fabulous history, and he made sure he spoke slowly and clearly so that everybody could... More

Our group stayed at the Chateau for six nights. I had a room at the top of the Tower. Although I whined about the climb up the stairs, I wouldn't have changed a thing. To sleep in the tower of a castle is a dream come true. The bath/shower worked great, and it was kind of fun to have the... More

As noted in my profile I am the organizer of cycling and walking events around Europe for the organization For A Cause. This year's trip brought us to France for the first time and the Chateau de La Flocelliere. The Property can be rented as a whole or by individual rooms, we did a little of both... The property is...
