What a pleasurable stay this was even with hot weather. The Tree House was small but it was clean, had some breakfast stocked for us and a wonderful wrap around deck only about 30 ft. from Thor who entertained during the night. In the early morning we took advantage of the coolest and bonded with Thor...Joe and Thor walked back... More

We're so happy you had a wonderful stay with us at Turpentine Creek! Thor is one happy lion. It sounds as though you made a life long friend in the process! Keep in mind we are open all year long so perhaps the next visit to TCWR can be made when the temps aren't as high. Fall is a great... More

Nice clean campsites. Great view! We loved waking up and seeing Thor. Still can't believe we were camping feet from big cats. This was everyones favorite part of Eureka. Not only the coolest place to camp but the cheapest!!!! The treehouse lodges looked very neat also.

Wow, thank you for the great review! Camping is always fun but to be so close to the big cats makes it an experience you're sure to remember! It sounds as though our lion Thor played a roll in your stay with us too! He's one happy lion and he lets everyone know it. We're so happy you had a... More

We stayed two nights, July 8-10, through a Living Social promotion and have told everyone what an interesting and unique experience it was. Accommodations are comfortable and the light breakfast was "just right". The staff is to be commended on their friendliness and knowledge of the animals. The first night was very stormy, with tornado warnings in the region......so not... More

Thankfully there were no tornadoes and the weather cleared so you were able to hear the cats in the night. It's an amazing sound and an experience unlike any other. Our staff and interns are an incredible group and do their best to answer questions and educate our guests. It's all about the big, beautiful cats! Thank you for your... More

Clean rooms with fridges. They stock muffins and juice, and coffee makers in all the rooms. You get free admission to the animals with overnight stay. EXCELLENT. We try to go every year. The animals are receiving excellent care and almost all are living in large grassy areas. The Grizzly bear (Bam Bam) - well - you can watch him... More

What is there to say? We stayed in the Bengal suite. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. You go to sleep listening to lions roar, you wake up listening to lions roar. Funny story. When we arrived there was a big thunderstorm and downpour. When I looked around I saw mostly empty cages except for one raccoon type rodent... More

We're glad the storms let up and you were able to get the full feel for the Refuge and being surrounded by the sights and sounds of our big, beautiful cats. Flip, our Coatimundi, is a fun animal to watch too. We're happy you had an enjoyable stay and our Siberian and Bengal suites are very comfortable, clean and spacious.... More

Deer came up to cabin at night and morning and were not.scared by people. Tours of refugee were not only interesting but enlightening. Got a deal on Living Social but would stay a regular price also. Staff were great and if we went with family would stay in two bedroom

We found out about Turpentine Creek while on Living Social. It sounded like the perfect place for my husband and I (huge animal lovers... especially all kinds of felines) so we made our decision to take a summer road trip with this being our ultimate destination. It was a long drive from upstate New York, but so so worth it!... More

All the way from New York!~ WOW! We're thrilled you made TCWR your summer destination and we look forward to your return visit. The Safari lodges sit a bit back on the property, away from the cats but you can certainly hear them in the evenings. It you want a more "up close" stay, we recommend the Siberian or Bengal... More

The Siberian room was absolutely beautiful with two tigers right outside our window. :) The refuge was amazing. Hearing the lions at night was unbelievable. Learning how the refuge cares for the animals was the best part. Love what they do! Will definitely be back.

The Siberian suite is a very special experience. You can look out either window of the room and you're looking directly into one of the habitats with two beautiful tigers, Donna and Pebbles. It's especially fun to watch them playing in their large, grassy habitat and enjoy a refreshing dip in their "pool" during the hot summer months. We thank... More

The best sleepover I've enjoyed since I was a kid! We easily accommodated three adults in the treehouse for a weekend. We lucked out and got a nice, cool weekend (in late June!), so we opened all the windows. Heard Thor and the other lions roar off and on throughout the night. The wrap-around deck is a great place to... More

To have such amazing weather in June was certainly a welcomed sight. The Tree House is a fun option to spend a night or two and enjoy the sounds of the big, beautiful cats! While the treehouse is TINY, it is worth the experience to be among the animals. Don't worry, you are completely safe, but you are within 20 feet of Thor the lion and Donna and Pebbles the tigers. The overnight 'caroling' of the animals is something you cannot experience anywhere else! The mission of this refuge is phenomenal, make sure to... More

Staying in the Tree House is a really fun experience and you get to be so close to Thor and hear him carol on and off during the night.
