We checked into our room after spending a day touring Normandy. The castle was a beautiful piece of history. We were shown to our room which was very nice with a view of the courtyard. The bathroom was roomy and great water pressure. At this point we decided to go downstairs to dinner. The menu had a range of options... More

This is a hard hotel to rate. On the one hand, it's a castle. But on the other hand, the room itself was one of the worst I had during my recently trip through France. But then again, it's a CASTLE!!! Who wouldn't be charmed to spend a night in a castle?!?! I really loved my overnight at l'Hostellerie, despite... More

We know Normandy well but had never been here. This was a stop off before getting the ferry back home from Cherbourg - it was a complete delight. Not luxurious but totally authentic. Lovely staff, great meals (we opted to eat in that night), we wondered around the grounds as the sun set and it was totally enchanting. Inside there... More

For a first ever trip to France we decided not to go to far, so decided on Bricquebec as a base to visit the D-Day beaches. We arrived at the hotel at 8.45pm on the Friday evening to find our hotel was part of a Castle. Wow!!! Great surprise. Our room was as you might expect, antique type furniture, slightly... More

There is a little to add to what is already written in recent reviews by Jochampagne, Jasmin186338 and Moonraker007. I hardly could find better wording to describe atmospheric premises of the castle, friendly service and delicious and reasonably priced dinner. We had two double rooms for two nights - different, but both equally nice. We did regret that due to... More

My husband, 13 year old daughter and I have just returned from a fabulous three nights stay. We experienced excellent and discreet service from all members of staff and enjoyed wonderful food in the restaurant on each evening. What a perfect base for exploring the many historic sites from the last war, including the beaches where one can poignantly remember... More

My husband and I loved this hotel, and we'll certainly be returning. If you want a standard Americanised hotel with all mod cons, don't go here, because what you'll find is a charming and comfortable French chateau/hotel, full of character, and with hosts who know the value of friendly and personal customer service. Our room was large and comfortable, and... More

This is the second time we have stayed he. It is ow one of our favourite hotels in France. The hotel is very friendly, clean and comfortable. We love the old world atmosphere, the creaking wooden staircase, the calm atmosphere, the knight's armour in the dining room. We will definitely stay here again when we cross to or from Cherbourg

Travelling down to Brittany this presents a great stopover just outside Cherbourg. So nice to stay somewhere with no two rooms the same! Sadly we were on a late ferry and arrived too late for dinner but the menu looked fab. Definitely to be tried on a future visit. The eponymous chateau is still in good shape, great for a... More

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff were welcoming and tolerant of my broken French(responding with a smile and perfectly fluent English). The hotel has everything you could hope for - a décor of antique furniture in the bedrooms; and shields and a coat of armour in the restaurant. Car parking is generous. The locale is peaceful, but...
