We came upon the chateau by chance and were delightfully surprised by the welcome we recieved even though we were not expected. We were made to feel at home straight away. The room seemed to be freshly decorated with a lovely bathroom. The evening meal was delicious and the service attentive and friendly. Having found this venue we will certainly... more

We loved our stop here. The owners went out of their way to welcome us. Our bags were carried to our room which was freshly decorated. Beautifully tiled bathroom. Dinner was fantastic, with friendly unrushed service. We walked around the lake in the morning before breakfast and sat outside to eat croissants and drink coffee. Blissful - perfect views. more

Arriving at the Chateau, anyone will accept the fact that the surrounding is really nice. The Chateau is beautifully placed on top a hill where a lovely scene is available. The small woods near the place looks magnificent but I had the bad idea of going there on a rainy day (and for a rainy week-end)… just too bad! The... more

My husband and I booked a room for one night with our small dog. It was a very impressive entrance but the room we were given was right at the top of the castle with a tiny spiral staircase that made it very difficult carrying up suitcases, the dog basket and the dog and he could not manage the steep... more

This hotel could be an excellent country hotel but the Anglo-Dutch owners do not quite seem to have got their act together. Our "luxury room" had odd proportions, outdated plumbing and lacked style in its furnishings but was comfortable enough. More disappointing were the meals. We had dinner in the the "gastronomic" restaurant where the atmosphere was spoilt by the... more

We stayed for four nights. Initially we had a small standard room but for the last night were booked into a 'chambre caractere' as our initial one was already booked for that night. The upgrade was without charge and to a lovely duplex room at the top of one of the towers It is true that our standard room was... more

As a treat we booked our last night at the Chateau Maulmont in Randon, one of the Relais Silencieux hotels. The entrance was quite impressive with nicely tended lawns, a play area with wooden swings, climbing rack and teeter-totters for kids not the usual plastic and rusting metal. At first glance the gardens too looked decent but in fact needed... more

We arrived late after driving down from Dieppe and the owners could not have ben more welcoming. They arrangd table in the restaurant, even though it was after 9pm, we had a excellent meal with a comprehensive wine list to choose from. The room was comfortable with excellent views over the countryside. The hotel was the perfect stopover on our... more

Driving up to the castle is amazing - it's a picture perfect building with lovely gardens and a lake. The receptionist was friendly and showed us to our room. It was large and clean with a stunning view. Before dinner we had drinks in the bar where 'mein host' was extremely friendly and very knowledgable about his drinks. Clearly a... more

From the dirve up to the Chateaux, we though - wow - were we in for a treat. Unfortunately this was short lived, as we entered our room. The wall paper was coming away from the ceiling, damp patches where the rain obviously leaked from the roof and brown stains down the walls. But none of this compared to the... more
