My husband and I first stayed at Casa Palopo about 10 years ago and loved it. We were so happy to return and find the hotel had changed little although we know that it changed hands. It is gorgeously appointed, has unbelievable views of the lake and is incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The food had improved a lot since our... More

From the welcome at the front door to the delicious cuisine at the restaurant to the amazing service from all staff members, it was an unforgettable trip. We stayed in the Atlitlan Room up the hill from the main hotel. The views from there across the water and looking to the volcanos were ever-changing and enchanting. Food in the restaurant... More

With attentive service (without being fawning), nice restaurant (solid menu with a daily local special; poolside menu was also nice, recommend the shrimp salad), and day trips planned with only short notice (to the multitude of local villages by boat, or our day trip to Chichicastenango), don't stay anywhere else. The rooms are well-appointed and full of bold local arts... More

We went to Casa Palopo with my husband for a begining of a romantic weekend. Eveything about this hotel is just perfect. You are greeted with a delicous beverage at the door. Check in is a breeze. Our suite #2 had a wonderful terrace with a spectacular view of beautiful Lake Atitlan. The bed and pillows were great. Food fantastic.... More

This is a beautiful hotel with superb views over Lake Atitlan. Service was outstanding and the rooms were excellent. The restaurant was the best we experienced in Guatemala. The front desk were happy to arrange local guides for a boat trip on the lake. It is an easy walk to a couple of local villages. You may feel guilty in... More

It is a very lovely place. Great to relax and take a drink in front of the fire or in the terrace with the lake and volcano view. The food was awsome! I like a lot the experience of small hotels were the employees are well trained and you can feel the warmness of home.

I couldn't imagine a more beautiful setting. In the nice, quiet town of Santa Catarina Polopo sits this exquisite property. Great place to relax after visiting the lake towns. The rooms were all very nice but room 1 was unbelievable with an amazing balcony. The pool was pretty and very warm. Only negative is that this town isn't geared towards... More

When you drive to Casa Palopo, you are left thinking that you are going quite a way from the lake but then you arrive on the terrace! What a view! Within 10 minutes walk you are in the local village. They have private access to the beach down 30 steps where you catch a boat to go and discover the... More

The climb is steep, the view is ridiculously fantastic. They greet you with fresh hibiscus tea and guacamole. Next up is fresh salad with well seasoned shrimp. We had shish ka bob with french fries. As someone who doesn't usually eat french fries I was impressed. Finishing off with ice cream was more than enough. This is a destination place... More
