Landing on San marcos I was welcomed by a group of young touts who scurried me off to aaculaax, My room was spacious clean and full of quirky artefacts ,the bathroom was built into the rocks and all little extras were provided. The grounds were lush and tropical and a stones throw away from the mystical lake. The price was... More

The rooms here are all different and you should check the website when booking as there is a good range of prices available as well as some rooms with shared bathrooms for travellers on a budget. We booked an ensuite room, called "Alain" and were very impressed with the creativity and artistic flair that has been used in both the... More

I am sorry to be so delinquent in my review. Earlier today my husband and I were reminiscing about our stay in the Pescado room. It was private, we had a fantastic view, and our fireplace created an absolutely perfect atmosphere for a glass of wine and a rainstorm. We took full advantage of the open air kitchen, and prepared... More

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Aaculaax on two recent trips to San Marcos. It is a unique inn, near the lake and built into a hillside, with some the most amazing rooms and suites we have stayed in. Each has some common design elements, like the stained glass windows and the clever integration with the surface of... More

This is the place you are searching for _ if you are in San Marcos for what it is (a rural village off the beaten path in Guatemala's highlands), if the details matter (from the artsy light fixtures to the flowers and Mayan garden sculptures), and if your main goal is to drop out and just sit for a while... This is by far the best hotel in San Marcos! The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The breakfast is unbelievably fresh and I highly recommend you try their handmade jelly. The hotel is very eco-friendly, in some cases even using the naturally placed mountain rocks for a wall. They recycling everything possible for reuse or as cleverly crafted decorations.... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Aaculaax last week and really loved our stay. The hotel itself is so lush, filled to the brim with flowers and foliage that really is impressive. We stayed in 2 different rooms, one was built right into the rocks of the mountain and the other was upstairs and beautifully decorated with unique glass windows.... More

Att the shores of Lake ATITLAN in Guatemala lays LUSH / the former Hotel Aaculaax. This is German - Swedish Jens and his American wifes version of heaven on earth . A fantastic place built on ecological principles set up on a cliff overlooking Lake Atitlan in the outskirts of the small but vibrant Maya village of San Marcos La... More

Undoubtedly one of the most memorable accommodations where I've ever stayed, Lush Rentals brought plentiful smiles to our group of 6 in San Marcos. We were blown away by the attention to detail in the rooms, such as the shower built right into the earth, super cozy beds, the antique furniture, the intricately-carved wooden doors. Everything was different, unique, but... More

The place is absolutely amazing with different and absolutely unique rooms, some with kitchen and terrace. Each room has its story and features. We have been for one night in the "panorama room" with the bed surrounded by a 180° view of the Atitlan lake and the restroom built IN the rocks like a cave! We have spent two more... More
